Acer Iconia Tab A510 Android 4.0 ICS tablet now available Posted: 18 Apr 2012 05:08 AM PDT Acer's latest tablet, the Iconia Tab A510, is now available for purchase. The A510 features a 1280 x 800 pixel display that measures 10.1 inches across the diagonal, a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It also has 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and both front and rear cameras. Interested buyers can head over to Acer's website and pony up $450 for the privilege of owning the Iconia Tab A510. Oracle contemplated entering smartphone market before suing Google Posted: 17 Apr 2012 01:33 PM PDT The lawsuit between Oracle and Google over alleged patent infringement in Android started today, and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison made some interesting admissions in his opening remarks. Microsoft shrinks SkyDrive URLs for images shared to Twitter from Windows Phone Posted: 17 Apr 2012 12:37 PM PDT Microsoft has made an adjustment to the way images are shared to Twitter from the native Windows Phone camera app that should make many users quite happy. Previously, images that were shared to Twitter from the Windows Phone camera app or Pictures Hub were uploaded to SkyDrive and shared via a long, cumbersome URL. Now, images that are shared are given nice, clean short URLs using Microsoft's sdrv.ms shortener. This gives users more space to add a comment when they Tweet an image since the URL takes up fewer of the 140 characters allotted to Twitter updates. Chrome Beta for Android updated, now available in more languages, countries Posted: 17 Apr 2012 11:48 AM PDT Google has updated its Chrome Beta for Android web browser for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones and tablets with a few new features and expanded global availability. The browser is now available in 31 new languages, and it can be downloaded in every country that the Google Play Store is available. New features include the ability to request desktop versions of sites, add bookmarks as shortcuts to a home screen, choose which apps will handle links opened by Chrome, and the ability to use Chrome with the system proxy configured in the main Android Settings app. Chrome Beta for Android is free and available in the Google Play Store now for devices with Android 4.0 or higher. European carriers unconvinced by Nokia's Lumia smartphones Posted: 17 Apr 2012 05:53 AM PDT Nokia has been working hard to build its Lumia brand of Windows Phone smartphones this year, with important launches in both North America and Europe.
