HTC One V headed stateside to Virgin, U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS Posted: 28 Feb 2012 04:47 AM PST HTC has confirmed that its One V smartphone that was announced at Mobile World Congress is headed stateside to Virgin Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and MetroPCS. The One V runs Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and is powered by a single-core 1GHz Qualcomm processor with 512MB of RAM. HTC's own Sense 4 is on-board along with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display and a 5MP camera and camcorder. Read the full story here. |

Video: Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet video demo from MWC 2012 Posted: 27 Feb 2012 02:17 PM PST Samsung had relatively few things to announce at MWC 2012 this year, but one of them was the Galaxy Note 10.1, a larger version of the original Galaxy Note. The Note 10.1 uses the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) as its design inspiration (it looks nearly identical), but it adds S Pen capabilities to draw and notate on the screen. The Note 10.1 is powered by a dual-core, 1.4GHz processor and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung's TouchWiz enhancements. Watch the video here. |
Onavo brings data compression to Android with Extend app Posted: 27 Feb 2012 01:47 PM PST Onavo, makers of an app that lets iPhone users compress cellular data and save money on limited data plans and roaming charges, has now brought its compression technology to the Android platform. Unlocked Sony NXT series Xperia smartphones headed to U.S. Sony stores this summer Posted: 27 Feb 2012 01:40 PM PST At Mobile World Congress 2012, we learned that we can expect to see the three members of the Sony NXT family of Xperia Android smartphones, the Xperia S, Xperia P, and Xperia U, made available unlocked for purchase at Sony stores and online in the U.S. in the June/July time frame. The Sony Mobile executive we spoke with also hinted that we could well see the phones available from a big box retailer or two later this year, though no particular chains were mentioned. Sony did say that it was going to be "aggressive" with distribution of the new devices, and that it is working towards carrier deals. Read the full story here. |

Unannounced Toshiba 7.7-inch quad-core tablet makes debut at MWC 2012 Posted: 27 Feb 2012 08:24 AM PST Toshiba hasn't yet announced its upcoming 7.7-inch tablet, but that hasn't stopped it from stepping out of the shadows at Mobile World Congress 2012. ASUS reworks Padfone smartphone/tablet duo ahead of launch, says it will arrive in April Posted: 27 Feb 2012 05:57 AM PST If your memory serves you well, you might recall that ASUS originally announced the Padfone tablet/smartphone hybrid device back in May of 2011. It then reminded us in October that it plans to bring the unique concept to market in 2012, and now it has announced the final design and specs of the Padfone. The main idea hasn't changed much - its a smartphone that docks inside of a tablet - but the hardware has been refined a bit and the phone is using some modern silicon. Read the full story here. |
