We recently got some hands-on time with Samsung's upcoming Captivate Glide for AT&T. While we still don't have a release date or launch price for the QWERTY-equipped smartphone, we did get a brief time to play around with it.

Samsung Galaxy Note headed to O2 UK this month

O2 UK users are going to get an early Christmas present as the carrier will offer Samsung's Galaxy Note this month. The smartphone tablet hybrid features a massive 5.3-inch Super AMOLED HD display, with 1280 x 800 pixels of resolution, for viewing pictures and video. The device also offers Google's Android Gingerbread OS, a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, and an main 8 megapixel camera and a 2 megapixel user-facing camera for video chats. The Galaxy Note supports the 850/900/1800/1900MHz GSM bands, and HSPA+ 21Mbps on the 850/900/1900/2100MHz bands for voice and data connectivity. No word yet on an exact availability date or pricing.

Google updates Android 4.0 NDK, adds two new APIs

Google announced that it has released a new version of its antive development kit (NDK) for Android 4.0. Version 7 brings new general improvements as well as bug fixes and includes two new API interfaces for developers to make use of: low-level streaming multimedia and audio decoding into PCM. NOOK for Android by B&N gets updated, adds NOOK Newstand

Android fans that use B&N's NOOK e-reader app are now able to get a new version of the application that offers bug fixes as well as the NOOK Newstand. Other additions include personalized recommendations, larger book and newstand covers for easier viewing, and a new global lock orientation setting. The free updated app is available now in the Android Market.

Amazon Kindle Fire Android tablet in Best Buy stores November 15

Amazon's highly antiicipated Android tablet, the Kindle Fire, goes on sale this week and now those that cannot wait for the delivery truck have a new option. Best Buy will have the tablet available for purchase in stores this Tuesday, November 15. The Amazon Kindle Fire is expected to give Apple's coveted iPad a run for its money, especially with its more affordable $199 price tag.
