AT&T extends timeframe for closing its T-Mobile USA acquisition Posted: 04 Nov 2011 08:50 PM PDT Due to the various lawsuits that its planned acquisition of T-Mobile USA is being subjected to, AT&T has extended its timeframe for closing the deal. The carrier is saying that the deal might not close until the middle of next year, which is a few months later than the original "early 2012" plans the company had initially announced. U.S. Cellular to launch LTE network and devices in first quarter of 2012 Posted: 04 Nov 2011 01:29 PM PDT Though U.S. Cellular declined the option to carry the iPhone at this time, it is still moving forward with its plans to launch a 4G LTE network, and devices that run on it, early next year. U.S. Cellular declined Apple's iPhone because of terms Posted: 04 Nov 2011 11:28 AM PDT Sprint may have bent over backward to gain the ability to carry Apple's iPhone, but U.S. Cellular wasn't willing to agree to terms that it deemed unacceptable to carry the popular smartphone, said CEO Mary Dillon. Apparently, U.S. Cellular was given an opportunity to carry the iPhone by Apple, but it declined the offer because "terms were unacceptable from a risk and profitability standpoint." Motorola XOOM 2, XOOM 2 Media Edition priced for UK market Posted: 04 Nov 2011 06:20 AM PDT Motorola's announcement of its two new Android tablets offered quite a few details on the XOOM 2 and the XOOM 2 Media Edition, but one that was lacking was what the tablets would cost when they hit the market. Thanks to Recombu, we now have the pricing, which they say comes straight from the horse's mouth. The XOOM 2 will retail for 379 GBP (US$608), while the smaller XOOM 2 Media Edition will cost 329 GBP (US$527).
