Sprint, LightSquared enter 4G LTE network deal, 3G roaming agreement

As was reported by Bloomberg last month, Sprint and LightSquared have entered into a 4G LTE network deal, in which LightSquared will pay Sprint to build and deploy its LTE network, and Sprint will get credit towards LTE and satellite services. LightSquared will also benefit from a nationwide 3G roaming agreement with Sprint.

Opera offers tips on managing mobile data usage

We have seen quite a bit about limited data plans lately, as Verizon Wireless followed AT&T's lead in getting rid of unlimited data options and enforcing caps on users. T-Mobile claims to have unlimited services, but it will throttle the connection speed of users who go over a pre-determined limit. In light of this, Opera has culled some tips for users so that they can manage data usage on their smartphones better and avoid those pesky overage fees.

Here's a video tour of a beta of the first version of the Dolphin browser built specifically for Android tablets. The demonstration takes place on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and shows off the browser's tabbed interface, gesture support, and cool swiping access to bookmarks and more. There's even a convenient button for going into full screen mode.

Sprint, Verizon versions of Samsung Galaxy S II expected to sport 4G

With the impending release of the Samsung Galaxy S II for the U.S. getting closer and closer each day, more information has been revealed regarding the various versions of the dual-core superphone that will be hitting U.S. carriers. According to info from the FCC and carriers' official support teams, we can expect both the Sprint version and the Verizon Wireless version of the Galaxy S II to have support for 4G data networks.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer tablet getting Android 3.2 update tomorrow

ASUS has taken to its official Twitter account to reveal that the Eee Pad Transformer convertible tablet will be getting its Android 3.2 Honeycomb update tomorrow, July 28. Android 3.2 brings such features as a compatibility zoom mode for fixed-size apps and support for media sync with SD cards. Users should get a notification on their Transformers when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Gingerbread update not quite available, still on schedule

Sony Ericsson sent us a quick note to let us know that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update that was posted on its website as available for the Xperia X10 smartphone is not quite ready yet, and has a little bit more cooking in the oven to do. "As some of you have seen we have communicated on www.sonyericsson.com that the Gingerbread software update for Xperia X10 is available. Unfortunately that information was a bit too premature. The launch is imminent and timing according to plan but we just need some more days before we can push the button," said the company. Hopefully the update will be actually released sooner rather than later, and we will be sure to let you know when it is.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc now officially available in the U.S.

Despite being listed and available to order from Sony Ericsson's U.S. online store for a number of weeks, Sony Ericsson has decided to make it official today that the Xperia arc smartphone is now available in the U.S. The manufacturer is selling it direct and unlocked, and the phone is compatible with AT&T's 2G and 3G networks. You can take one home for $599.99, though Sony's website is showing the arc as back-ordered through August 2, so you may have to wait a week or so.

InterDigital files another patent complaint against Nokia, adds Huawei, ZTE to mix

InterDigital, creator of the TDMA standard that GSM is based upon, has once again sued Nokia over 3G patent claims, though this time it has included Huawei and ZTE in its request to the International Trade Commission. InterDigital is looking to block the import of phones, tablets, USB modems, and mobile hotspots that include 3G CDMA or 3G WCDMA technology from the three companies.

HTC EVO 3D dropped from Vodafone line-up due to delays

Bad news for those in the UK looking to scoop up the HTC EVO 3D from Vodafone, as the carrier has dropped the smartphone from its line-up due to delays of an unknown nature. These could be delays getting the phone from HTC, or delays with certifying the software for Vodafone's network - the carrier did not specify. Those of you that are jonesing for a 3D smartphone fix still have the LG Optimus 3D to look at, so all is not lost.

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide smartphone now available

The next iteration of the myTouch family of smartphones for T-Mobile, the myTouch 4G Slide, is now available to purchase at T-Mobile stores and online. The myTouch 4G Slide features a 3.7-inch display and a four-row slide-out keyboard. It is powered by a dual-core, 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a custom, myTouch version of HTC's Sense user interface. T-Mobile claims that the 8 megapixel camera on the back is the most advanced smartphone camera available as well. The myTouch 4G Slide will set you back $199.99 on a new two-year agreement.
