Hitachi's new smartphone display offers 4.5 inches of 3D

Hitachi announced a new smartphone display this week that is capable of displaying 3D content without requiring the user to wear 3D glasses. The new display features a large, 4.5-inch size, and has a higher resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels than we have seen from previous 3D displays for smartphones.

iOS, Android pass Symbian as top smartphone platforms in UK

ComScore's latest report on the smartphone market in the UK has revealed some unsurprising changes in the rankings of popular smartphone OSes. Namely, Apple's iOS and Google's Android have finally surpassed Nokia's Symbian as the most popular smartphone platforms in the country over the past year.

Motorola ATRIX 4G Gingerbread update now available for all

Just a few short days after Motorola sent the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the ATRIX 4G to beta testers, the company has now made it available for all to download. Included in the update are all of the goodies that come with Gingerbread, plus interface improvements from Motorola and a feature that users have been clamoring for since the ATRIX 4G was released.
