Dell Smoke, Thunder, and Lightning Android and Windows Phone 7 smartphones leaked?

Dell may have three new smartphones up its sleeves, including two Android powered devices and one Windows Phone 7 smartphone. Images and spec sheets were recently leaked, but we may not see the phones until later this year or until 2011.

Verizon Wireless rolling out Motorola DEVOUR 1.15.83 firmware update

Verizon Wireless is pushing out a Motorola DEVOUR firmware update that fixes a few minor issues. The update should improve the response time of the DEVOUR's touch sensitive buttons, as well as the accuracy of the signal strength indicator. Verizon Wireless also said it's improving incoming call performance, MobileIM application volume key functionality, and picture orientation correction while uploading. The update also includes a few other enhancements and stability improvements.

Nuance Dragon for Email dictation now available in BlackBerry App World

Nuance has announced that its Dragon for Email dictation application is now available in the BlackBerry App World. Dragon for Email lets you speak your email messages instead of typing them out on your phone's keyboard. It's free for a limited time and works on a variety of smartphones including the BlackBerry Tour, Storm, Storm2, Bold, and Curve series devices.

Google Maps Navigation beta working in U.K.

While Google's Maps Navigation Beta page still says that the software only works in the United States, we heard mumblings that the beta was now working overseas in the U.K. on Android 1.6 or newer smartphones as well. Our U.K. editor Russell Jefferies has confirmed that the installation is available for his G1. It does require a separate text-to-speech app download from the marketplace, but he was able to get it running. Google Maps Navigation provides free turn-by-turn directions, and is included in Android 1.6 or newer OS installs.

Adobe stopping investments in iPhone Flash development tools

Adobe will no longer invest time or money into the planning of Flash CS5 support on the iPhone or iPad, Adobe's senior product manager for developer relations, Mike Chambers, said. While Adobe will still ship the ability to target the iPhone and the iPad in Flash CS5, Chambers cited Apple's new developer program license, and warned that "Developers should be prepared for Apple to remove existing content and applications created with Flash CS5 from the iTunes store." Adobe's focus for Flash 10.1 and AIR 2.0 will be on Android, webOS, Windows Phone 7, and BlackBerry OS.

Apple reports Q2 2010 earnings, iPhone sales more than double

Apple reported its results for the second quarter of its 2010 fiscal year. The company posted increased revenues and net quarterly profits, and reported a large increase in the number of iPhone units sold.

BlackBerry 9670 clamshell QWERTY smartphone on its way?

Rumor has it that a new BlackBerry 9670 device, a smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard and a clamshell form factor, could be headed our way. It also could be one of the first devices to pack OS 6.0, Research in Motion's latest operating system.
