Lenovo LePhone, an Android 2.1 powered smartphone, launches in China

Today Lenovo announced that it is launching the LePhone in China. The deive is an Android 2.1 powered smartphone that offers a large AMOLED display. Lenovo's chief operating officer, Rory Read, told The Wall Street Journal that Lenovo plans to target both enterprise and consumer customers and hopes to sell millions of phones during the next five years and "tens of millions," thereafter. The LePhone was originally announced at CES where we had a chance to go hands-on with the device.

Radio Shack to stop carrying Sprint Palm Pre, Pixi

A Sprint spokesperson told Barron's that Radio Shack will begin phasing out the webOS powered Palm Pre and Palm Pixi phones in favor of a new smartphone. Speculation has it that the new device could be an upcoming BlackBerry device, although that has not yet been confirmed. "This is in line with Radio Shack's normal product planning process - there is a designated amount of space in stores for handsets and they work to keep the lineup of devices as current as possible," Sprint told Barron's.

Adobe: Flash 10.1 for mobile still on schedule

Earlier today we reported that Adobe had delayed Flash 10.1 for mobile until the second quarter. It appears that the CEO's comments were misunderstood and that the software is expected to launch on time. Adobe has told Phonescoop.com that "Adobe is still on track making Flash Player 10.1 for first mobile platforms including Android available before the end of the first half of 2010." Manufacturers choosing to support Flash on their smartphones will release them in the second half of 2010.

Apple shipping iPad 3G by May 7th

Those holding out for the iPad 3G can expect their devices to ship during the first week of May. Apple updated its store recently with shipping dates for the iPad 3G. Under the listings for the three available models: 16GB, 32Gb, and 64GB, Apple included the note: "Ships: by May 7th."

Adobe delays Flash 10.1 for Android, webOS, BlackBerry, public beta opens for Android

You can now sign up to be a part of the first public beta for Adobe's Android Flash Player 10.1 and AIR 2.0. Adobe didn't confirm when the beta products would be available for testing, but Adobe's CEO Shantanu Narayen recently said that his company has delayed the launch of Flash 10.1 for Android, webOS, and BlackBerry until the second half of this year. Originally the company planned to launch the products during the first half of the year.

Best Buy to expand mobile presence with more Best Buy Mobile stores in U.S.

Best Buy is planning to expand its mobile presence in the United States by opening more of its Best Buy Mobile stores. Best Buy's chief executiive, Brian Dunn, told the Financial Times that his complany plans to open "a number between here and 1,000" of its Best Buy Mobile retail outlets. The company currently has 77 in the U.S.
