Twitter for BlackBerry beta application available tonight

Apple iPhone OS 4 SDK available for developers

Today Apple outlined some of the new features of its latest operating system, OS 4, for the iPhone, iPod touch, and the iPad. The OS 4 beta software development kit (SDK) is available for developers today at Apple's iPhone Developer website. A developer login is required. The new OS adds over 100 new user features and 1,500 new developer API calls

Apple iPhone OS 4 adds multitasking, folders, more to iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

Today Apple announced iPhone OS 4. The new operating system includes seven "tentpole" features, including the ability to multitask and create folders, a unified email inbox, iBooks support, better enterprise features, a social networking "game center," and a new mobile advertising platform called iAd.

Sprint to launch 4G WiMAX network in Kansas City this summer

During the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce's 2010 Economic Forecast Mid-Year event, Sprint's chief executive officer Dan Hesse said that the company would launch its fourth generation WiMAX network in Kansas City this summer. Sprint WiMAX network is currently available in 27 markets, with many more planned for 2010 including Boston, New York, and San Francisco. Sprint may launch the HTC EVO 4G at the same time it makes its Kansas City 4G network active.

WiLAN suing Apple, Dell, other major handset/computer firms for patent infringement

A Canadian company called WiLAN today filed a complaint with the U.S. district court for the eastern district of Texas claiming that a number of major computer and handset manufacturers are infringing on one of its Bluetooth patents.

Fractus licensing antenna tech to Motorola

Spanish antenna maker Fractus said that it has entered a non-exclusive worldwide patent license agreement with Motorola. The company has previously filed patent infringement complaints with 10 cell phone companies, although Motorola was not involved.

Skyfire pauses BlackBerry browser development for Android focus

Yesterday Skyfire's chief executive officer Jeff Glueck said that his company is pausing its work on a BlackBerry flavor of Skyfire to focus on Android. Glueck cited carrier and manufacturer interest in Android as a catalyst for the switch. He also said that the BlackBerry developer environment is not as favorable for cutting edge development, and that Skyfire wants to put its focus on WebKit based browser

Google Mobile services return to China

Google's Mainland China service availability page now says that its Mobile services are currently "fully accessible" or experiencing "small-scale blocking." Prior to yesterday, most of Google's Mobile services in China were partially blocked, due to the search engine's decision to pull out of China over censorship concerns.

Nokia launches "Comes with Music" service in China

Nokia announced that it has launched its "Comes with Music" service in China. "Comes with Music" works on eight different cell phone models available across Chinese wireless carriers, and the service provides unlimited downloads for one year from major labels including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and EMI Music.
