Nokia wins $2 billion in handset deals with Chinese distributors Posted: 02 Apr 2010 05:40 AM PDT Today Nokia announced it had won distribution agreements with two Chinese companies: China PTAC and Telling Telecommunication Holding Co. Ltd. Both contracts were said to be worth over $1 billion each, but Nokia's China PTAC agreement fell for the third year in a row. Kyocera merges North American entities Posted: 01 Apr 2010 10:13 AM PDT Today Kyocera announced that it is merging Kyocera Wireless Corp (KWC) and Kyocera Communications into a single company called Kyocera Communications, Inc., a subsidiary of Kyocera International, Inc. Eiichi Toriyama will continue to serve as the KCI President and Rodney Lanthorne, president KWC and KII will be the vice chairman of KII's board of directors. Verizon Wireless slashes Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus prices, Mobile Hotspot now free Posted: 01 Apr 2010 07:54 AM PDT Today a Verizon Wireless representative told us that the Palm Pre Plus will now cost $49.99 with a 2-year contract and the Pixi Plus will cost $29.99. Both devices are being sold with a buy-one-get-one-free promotion. Verizon Wireless also said that the Mobile Hotspot feature, which allows you to broadcast your 3G connection as a WiFi network, is now free. "Existing customers who already have the [Mobile Hotspot] service will find charges on their next bill will be $0.00," a Verizon Wireless spokesperson told us. Read the full story here. |
