Google Maps 4.0 for BlackBerry provides voice search, Buzz, and more

The latest version of Google Maps for BlackBerry, version 4.0, provides a host of updates that make the client a bit more comparable to its Android counterpart. BlackBerry users can now search by voice as well as view and update Google Buzz. Similar to the Android Google Maps client, the software now syncs with your maps.google.com history, so you can quickly find previous searches. The Labs feature also adds a terrain layer, search nearby option, and the ability to report issues. The software is available for free from m.google.com/maps.

Google Earth returns to Market for Motorola DROID smartphones running Android 2.1

Last week we reported that Google Earth wasn't available in the Android Market for anyone who had upgraded their Verizon Wireless Motorola DROID to Android 2.1. Our readers informed us, and we confirmed, that the app is again available for DROID owners running Android 2.1, and it remains free in the Android Market.

Today Rhapsody announced that its music player, which provides access to over 9.5 million songs with a $9.99 monthly subscription, is available for Android. The app comes with a 7 day free trial and it's available in the Android Market.

Today Google launched the Nexus One car dock which allows you to mount the Nexus One inside your car to serve as a personal navigation device. The accessory comes with a charger for your car's 12V socket and costs $55. It's available from google.com/phone.

Vodafone working with Opera to offer mobile web in emerging markets

Vodafone said today that it is working with Opera to offer the Opera Mini browser on devices in emerging markets that run on 2G networks. "With this product, we can transform even basic handsets into very capable Internet browsing devices, enabling millions of people to enjoy the social and economic aspects of the internet that many already take for granted," Vodafone's internet services head of emerging markets, Jonathan Bill said. The two companies announced a similar agreement in February 2009.
