Intel and Nokia share MeeGo OS code with developers Posted: 02 Apr 2010 10:44 AM PDT This week Nokia and Intel released the operating system (OS) code for MeeGo, an OS that's a merger of the Maemo and Moblin mobile operating systems. Nokia and Intel have opened up the OS base from the Linux kernel to the OS infrastructure and the middleware layer. A full MeeGo release is expected in May. Read the full story here. |
Japan to end mobile phone SIM locking Posted: 02 Apr 2010 10:24 AM PDT Japan's communication ministry has worked with the four major Japanese wireless carriers to create new guidelines for swapping SIM cards. Sharp shows off 3D cellphone displays Posted: 02 Apr 2010 05:54 AM PDT Sharp has begun showing off 3-inch 3D cellphone displays, which the company hopes to mass produce during the first half of fiscal 2010. The screens, when turned to the side, can display 3D images and Sharp hopes to implement them into cell phones, digital cameras, and gaming devices. Unlike larger displays, these small ones don't require special 3D glasses, and instead display different images to your left and right eye."The arrival of mobile 3D is just around the corner," Sharp's executive managing officer, Yoshisuke Hasegawa told reporters in Tokyo.
