Adobe: Android Flash Player 10.1 set for June general release

Yesterday Steve Jobs wrote a public post explaining why Apple doesn't, and won't, offer Flash support on its products. Adobe's chief technology officer, Kevin Lynch, recently responded with his own post, in which he discussed Adobe's continuing work to support other platforms including BlackBerry OS, Android, webOS, and Windows Phone 7. In the post, Lynch said that Adobe will show off the Android 10.1 Flash Player during a public preview at the Google I/O conference in May, and that there will be a general release of the software in June.

New Verizon Wireless HTC DROID Incredible orders shipping in May

Verizon Wireless launched the HTC DROID Incredible yesterday, an Android 2.1 powered smartphone that we loved. Reports are surfacing that the device has been sold out in a number of locations, and Verizon Wireless' website now says that new orders of the phone "will be shipped by 5/7."

Skyfire for Android now available

Today Skyfire announced that its Skyfire 2.0 browser is now available for Android smartphones. The browser has long been available on other paltforms, including Windows Mobile and S60, and is best known for its support of embedded Flash content inside websites. Skyfire 2.0 also includes a SkyBar, which is a toolbar that enables Flash videos to play correctly. A "Share" icon makes it easy to share video with Facebook or Twitter friends, or via email and SMS. Skyfire 2.0 is available for free from bit.ly/skyfireandroid or in the Android Market.

Samsung announces first multi-chip package with PRAM

Today Samsung announced the first multi-chip package (MCP) with a Samsung 512 megabit PRAM, a new technology for handsets that's backward compatible with 40 nanometer class NOR flash memory, but which offers three-times the data storage performance per word than NOR chips. PRAM is expected to be the successor to NOR flash in consumer electronics and is expected to be widely adopted next year.

Samsung launches Galaxy A Android smartphone for Korean market

Samsung has recently launched the Galaxy A, its first Android powered smartphone for the Korean market. The Galaxy A features a 3.7-inch 800x480 pixel AMOLED touchscreen, T-DMB television support, and access to 100 Korean apps in the Samsung Apps application store - as well as access to the Android Market. The phone will be available from SK Telecom by the end of April.

Palm updates webOS to 1.4.1.1 for Verizon Wireless Palm Pre Plus

Today Palm announced via Twitter that the Palm Pre will be updated to webOS version 1.4.1.1. While Palm wasn't specific on what would be updated in the fix, Engadget says it's fixing a keyboard lag issue, pinch-to-zoom in Doc and PDF files, camera shutter lag, and issues with forwarding videos through email that were uploaded to YouTube.

LG GS290 Cookie Fresh touchscreen phones heads to the U.K.

Today LG announced that the GS290 Cookie Fresh touchscreen phone will be finding a home on U.K. carriers, including Vodafone, Virgin, Tesco, and Phones4u. The Cookie Fresh was announced in early March, and offers 3-inch display, a 2 megapixel camera, an FM radio, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as LG's proprietary "cartoon user interface," that brings your favorite programs to the homescreen. The Cookie Fresh will be available in a wide variety of colors.

Motorola's Q1 2010 report shows decline in sales, profits
