Today, the new iPad is available for purchase in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. "Angry Birds titles consistently remain among our top selling NOOK Apps, and we're excited to bring the newest addition of the global phenomenon, Angry Birds Space, to our millions of NOOK Tablet and NOOK Color customers," said Jamie Iannone, President of Digital Products, at Barnes & Noble. AT&T promises Android 4.0 ICS upgrades for 10 more smartphones, tablets Posted: 22 Mar 2012 01:54 PM PDT AT&T was the first U.S. carrier out of the gate to update an existing device to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with the release of the HTC Vivid's update earlier today. The carrier isn't stopping there, however, as it has announced that 10 other smartphones and tablets in its lineup will see upgrades at some point later this year. The LG Nitro, Motorola ATRIX 2, Motorola ATRIX 4G, Pantech Burst, Pantech Elementk Samsung Captivate Glide, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will all see updates from AT&T. Most of these devices have been promised upgrades by their respective manufacturers, but it's always nice to see second confirmation from a carrier. Unfortunately, AT&T didn't say exactly when we will see these updates arrive, other then that they will show up in the "coming months." Read the full story here. |
Google Voice gets tighter integration with Android 4.0 ICS Posted: 22 Mar 2012 12:38 PM PDT Google has released an update to the Google Voice app for Android that gives it greater integration with the native dialer in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The new integration lets Google Voice users access their Google Voice messages right from within the call log of the native dialer app. Users can control the playback speed of voicemails to speed up or slow down the message as they listen to it. The new feature can be activated by toggling the "Voicemail display" option in the settings section of the updated Google Voice app. The update is available for free from the Google Play Store now, though the new integration is only available to Android 4.0 devices. iOS 5.1 code suggests LTE iPhone, 4G FaceTime in development Posted: 22 Mar 2012 12:03 PM PDT This may not come as a surprise to many, but hints that Apple is working on an LTE version of the iPhone have been found in lines of code in iOS 5.1, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE now available from U.S. Cellular Posted: 22 Mar 2012 08:15 AM PDT The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE Android tablet is now available for purchase from U.S. Cellular's retail stores and website. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is U.S. Cellular's first 4G LTE device, and it is the same model that was released for Verizon Wireless last fall. It features a 10.1-inch display, dual-core processor, and Android 3.2 Honeycomb as its operating system. Interested buyers can pick it up for $499, after rebate, with a new two-year data plan contract. Boost offers unlimited $30 per month shrinkage plan for a limited time Posted: 22 Mar 2012 07:22 AM PDT Boost Mobile has announced that it is offering a new unlimited talk and text plan that will shrink to as low as $30 per month - provided users pay their bills on time. The plan starts at $45 per month and goes down $5 per month for every six months that customers make timely bill payments, until it reaches $30 per month. Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G now available from T-Mobile Posted: 22 Mar 2012 06:11 AM PDT T-Mobile USA has verified to MobileBurn that it is now offering the Galaxy S Blaze 4G smartphone from Samsung in select T-Mobile stores. The device will be available online and in all T-Mobile retail stores starting March 28. The Galaxy S Blaze 4G offers a 3.97-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display and is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor under its hood. The new Android smartphone is compatible with T-Mobile's 42Mbps {HSPA+} network. The price tag for the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G smartphone is $149.99, with a two year service agreement. Apple eats RIM's lunch in its own backyard Posted: 22 Mar 2012 05:47 AM PDT According to Bloomberg, Apple has surpassed RIM to become the number one smartphone manufacturer in RIM's home country of Canada. RIM had held a strong lead in Canada for years, and is in fact Canada's largest homegrown technology company, but the popularity of the iPhone seems to be too much for RIM to overcome at this point.
