Google Earth for Android and iOS updated, includes Google+ social sharing and KML support Posted: 14 Mar 2012 05:55 PM PDT Google Earth v6.2 is now available from Google's Play Store and Apple's iTunes App Store. The update offers KML support, which allows for layered lists consisting of things like real time flights, earthquakes, and city tours to be viewed. The update also includes stability and performance enhancements. Android users are also treated to Google+ and social media sharing as well as new zooming and pinch gesturing. Pinterest iPad app coming soon Posted: 14 Mar 2012 05:42 PM PDT Users of the new social media site Pinterest will be happy to know that an iPad app is coming soon. The Pinterest app is currently available to Apple's iPhone and iPod touch users only. Pinterest CEO and co-founder Ben Silberman, while at the SBSW conference this week, said along with an upcoming iPad app, the company will also roll out new updates to users' profile pages on its website that will "make the pages look more beautiful." T-Mobile pleads for FCC-mandated 700MHz LTE interoperability Posted: 14 Mar 2012 10:20 AM PDT T-Mobile USA has petitioned the Federal Communications Commission to mandate interoperability of LTE devices that use the 700MHz spectrum used by AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Cricket signs wholesale 4G LTE agreement with Clearwire Posted: 14 Mar 2012 07:52 AM PDT Clearwire, the company that Google recently dumped its stake in at a significant loss, has now signed up Cricket in a wholesale agreement that will see Cricket using Clearwire's upcoming 4G LTE Advanced network. Clearwire's network will supplement Cricket's own LTE network, which is planned to cover two-thirds of its current footprint (25 million people). T-Mobile updates BlackBerry Torch 9810, Bold 9900 to BlackBerry OS 7.1 Posted: 14 Mar 2012 05:08 AM PDT Some BlackBerry users on T-Mobile should be happy, as the carrier has released the BlackBerry OS 7.1 update for the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphones. The update adds Wi-Fi calling, mobile hotspot and USB tethering, and BBM Music, as well as Bing search to internet search results and the Commercial Mobile Alert System for emergency alerts. A number of other bugs and performance issues have been addressed for both smartphones, as well.
