Verizon drops Galaxy Tab price to $299.99 with two-year contract

Verizon has subsidized the price of it Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet to $299.99 with a new two-year agreement. The device was previously only offered unsubsidized for $499.99. The Galaxy Tab offers a 7-inch WSVGA touchscreen display, a 1GHz processor, a 3 megapixel rear camera, and 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video chats. Microsoft responds to Windows Phone 7 update issues

Today Microsoft responded on its blog to some issues that have affected some users, namely Samsung Omnia 7 owners, applying a recent Windows Phone 7 update. Microsoft says that 90 percent of its users applying the update have done so successfully.

Sprint hints at Windows Phone 7 device announcement on Thursday

Sprint has already confirmed that it's planning to announce a new device on Thursday. Now, Sprint is nearly confirming rumors that it's going to be a Windows Phone 7 device. Today Sprint Tweeted "Wouldn't it be great to have your phone integrated with your home game console, like Xbox? #comebackfeb24." As you likely already know, one feature of Windows Phone 7 is its Xbox Live integration. Rumor has it that the device will be the QWERTY-packing HTC Arrive. We'll keep you updated on Thursday.

T-Mobile intros promotional $79.99 Even More plan

Today T-Mobile announced a new promotional postpaid plan that includes unlimited data, texting, and 1,500 voice minutes for $79.99 per month. That's a $20 trade-off from the $99.99 monthly plan that provides unlimited data, voice, and text. Oddly, that's the same price as T-Mobile's Even More 500 plan, which includes 500 minutes per month with unlimited text, and unlimited data. T-Mobile's website says the new plan is only available for a limited time, so you may want to jump on it.

Verizon Wireless and Motorola partner on public safety 4G LTE access

Today Verizon Wireless and Motorola announced a new alliance in which the two will offer public safety agencies access to Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network. The two will offer public safety agencies "access to real-time management and control, enhanced nationwide roaming and site sharing of existing mobile broadband sites for rapid deployment and economies of scale," Verizon explained. Verizon's 4G LTE network provides data speeds up to 5-12Mbps on the downlink and 2-5Mbps on the uplink.

IMDb for Android gets an update

IMDb, the Internet Movie Database, has pushed out an update for those using its service on Android smartphones. The new update, version 1.5, brings international movie showtimes, a dedicated widget, entertainment news, and the ability to move the IMDb app to an SD card. IMDb did note, however, that the IMDb widget will not work if you do decide to store the application on an SD card and not on your phone's internal storage. The app is free and is available now.

Netflix announces deal with CBS

Netflix has announced a new two-year licensing deal with CBS. Under the new agreement, Netflix will provide popular CBS shows such as "Frasier," "Cheers," "Medium," and "Flashpoint" to its Watch Instantly streaming customers. Netflix' Watch Instantly service is available on a host of mobile devices, including the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, and phones running Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system. The new content should be available this April.

Paid Angry Birds app coming to Android

If you're an Android user and are a fan of the popular game Angry Birds, but are getting fed up with the ads on the free version, there's good news. Via its Twitter page, Rovio Mobile indicated that it will soon offer a paid version of the game. In a response to users asking for a pay-for game without ads, Rovio said "give us a month and we'll be there." No indication for pricing was given, but we figure it will be in-line with the $0.99 price-point on iOS devices.
