Orange UK to stock the LG Optimus 3D and Optimus Black smartphones Posted: 14 Feb 2011 04:19 AM PST Orange has announced that it will offer two new LG handsets, the Optimus Black and the Optimus 3D. The new handsets will be available with select plans in Q2 of this year. The Optimus 3D features a 4.3-in 3D LCD display, dual 5MP cameras with 1080p Full HD video and 3D video recording capabilities, all of which run on a 1GHz dual-core processor and Android 2.2. The Optimus Black features a 4.0-in capacitive display, a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording, and also runs the Android 2.2 Froyo OS, but on a single-core 1GHz processor. Nokia to sell Windows Phone 7 apps in Ovi Store Posted: 13 Feb 2011 01:02 PM PST During Nokia's press conference at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, Stephen Elop, Nokia's CEO, discussed some of the company's plans for the future. Elop noted that Nokia is working on a Windows Phone 7 devices, and even displayed a quick snapshot of a concept version. Despite offering WP7, it sounds like Nokia isn't ditching its Ovi Store applications market just yet. According to CNET UK, Elop said that Nokia will offer Windows Phone 7 applications through its Ovi Store portal. It's unclear when the first device will launch, but we're hoping it's this year. Nokia shows Microsoft Windows Phone 7 smartphone prototype Posted: 13 Feb 2011 11:20 AM PST During Nokia's press conference at Mobile World Congress, the company displayed the first fruits of its new partnership with Microsoft. A small slide was shown that displayed a prototype Windows Phone 7 smartphone in four different colors. Motorola ATRIX 4G Android smartphone for AT&T now available for pre-order Posted: 13 Feb 2011 08:49 AM PST AT&T is now offering it's new high-end Motorola ATRIX Android smartphone for pre-order starting today, February 13, 2011. The device will be priced at $199.99 with a two-year contract, and Motorola says that it expects the phone to be available from normal retail channels by March 6. AT&T will bundle the ATRIX with the Motorola Laptop Dock for $499.99, and will offer an accessory bundle with the Multimedia Dock, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and a remote control for $189.99. The Nexus S is manufactured by Samsung and features a curved 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, a 5MP camera/camcorder, and a second VGA front-facing camera for video chats. INQ Cloud Touch set for an April launch in the UK, pre-registration opens Posted: 13 Feb 2011 07:08 AM PST The INQ Cloud Touch is apparently making its way towards UK retailer Carphone Warehouse as soon as April. The handset appeared on their website which mentioned an April launch but folks can pre-register now. The INQ Cloud Touch runs on Android 2.2 Froyo and has a deep social networking integration with Facebook and Spotify. Motorola XOOM Best Buy pre-orders start Thursday, priced at a whopping $1,199 Posted: 13 Feb 2011 06:37 AM PST We hope there's some sort of pricing scheme that's been lost in translation here. Best Buy currently has a website posted that says the Motorola XOOM, an Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet for Verizon Wireless, will be available for pre-order this Thursday. It's priced at a whopping $1,199, which is what you'd pay for a much more powerful notebook. We assume there will be a carrier subsidy option available too, but even still that price rings a little too high for us. LG teases of Optimus 3D smartphone release ahead of MWC 2011 Posted: 13 Feb 2011 06:37 AM PST LG has announced the upcoming release of its new Optimus 3D smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2011. The new handset features a 4.3-inch WVGA glasses-free 3D display and a dual-lens camera, enabling users to capture their own 3D content to be viewed directly on the new display. On top of this, the Optimus 3D also features a 1GHz OMAP4 dual-core processor and HDMI output.
