Details on Android Gingerbread 2.4 Posted: 16 Feb 2011 10:28 AM PST While we can't provide a lot of detail, today a source at a manufacturer confirmed what we had suspected to be the major differences between Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the 2.4 version that has popped up from time to time. According to my source, 2.4 will add Google Talk video calling support to match that of Honeycomb, and it will also offer support for new "dual-mode" apps that work with both honeycomb and Gingerbread, presumably offering some new functionality that Android 2.x currently lacks. This is not to suggest that we will see the Honeycomb 3.0 UI features on Gingerbread 2.4 smartphones - that's not the case. Read the full story here. |
