CDMA Windows Phone 7 devices pushed to 2011 Posted: 17 Sep 2010 05:11 AM PDT Microsoft recently said that its CDMA Windows Phone 7 devices, those that would run on Verizon Wireless or Sprint, won't debut until 2011. "For the worldwide market, the vast majority of phones are GSM phones, so we focused on GSM first and then plan to deliver an update that will have great CDMA support in the first half of 2011," Microsoft's senior product manager, Greg Sullivan, said. T-Mobile USA to offer Samsung Galaxy Tab Android 2.2 tablet Posted: 16 Sep 2010 05:04 PM PDT Today T-Mobile announced that it will offer Samsung's Galaxy Tab, an Android 2.2 powered tablet. The Galaxy Tab is powered by a 1GHz processor and offers both a front-facing and a rear-facing camera, which can be used for recording video or face-to-face live video chat. Samsung launches Media Hub online media store Posted: 16 Sep 2010 04:29 PM PDT Tonight at its event in New York City, Samsung officially launched its Media Hub service. Samsung's Media Hub store will offer movies and "next day" TV shows to users of devices such as Samsung's Galaxy S smartphones and its newly launched Galaxy Tab tablet. Samsung claims that its prices will be "competitive" with other services, and that media purchased by users will be viewable on multiple devices, not just the device on which it was purchased. Partners include MTV Networks, NBC, Paramount, Universal Studies, and Warner Bros. Samsung also noted that its client would be available on PCs in the future, although it wasn't specific as to when. Verizon on track for 4G LTE in 25-30 markets by end of 2010 Posted: 16 Sep 2010 11:41 AM PDT Verizon Wireless is on track to deploy its long-term evolution (LTE) 4G network in 25-30 markets by the end of the year. A Verizon Wireless spokesperson reaffirmed the carrier's goals with Mobile Burn today, and noted that Verizon Wireless plans to cover 100 million Americans in those markets. Google sued by Skyhook for patent infringement Posted: 16 Sep 2010 09:30 AM PDT Skyhook, a company that provides the technology for mobile devices to show your location using nearby WiFi networks, is suing Google for patent infringement. Skyhook is also filing a complaint stating that Google has interfered with its business practices by forcing manufacturers using the Android operating system to use Google's positioning technology instead of Skyhook's. Palm webOS 2.0 feature video leaked Posted: 16 Sep 2010 08:09 AM PDT A video of Palm's new webOS 2.0 operating system was posted on YouTube earlier today. The clip walks through some of the new features of webOS 2.0. Some highlights include visual enhancements, separate pages for different applications, a revamped phone app, and QuickOffice for opening Microsoft Office files.
