Nokia ousts CEO for Microsoft's Elop

Nokia has announced that it is replacing its current CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, with Microsoft's Stephen Elop, as of September 21. Stephen Elop is currently serving as the president of Microsoft's business division.

Adobe resuming development of Packager for iPhone

Following Apple's announcement that it is relaxing its third-party developer guidelines, Adobe has announced that it is now resuming development of its Adobe Packager for iPhone feature of Flash Professional CS5. Adobe also pointed out that Apple's restriction on Flash content running in the browser on iOS devices remains in place.

Google Maps adds Walking Navigation Beta, Street View for Android

HTC Desire firmware update rolling out

Today HTC released a new firmware update, version 2.10.405.2 for the Android powered Desire. The update patches Android, enhances multi-inbox Gmail support, and improves the Russian keyboard layout. Verizon Wireless wins in U.S. call quality survey

Today J.D. Power and Associates released the results of its 2010 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study Volume 2. Verizon Wireless scored higher than any other carrier in three regions that cover 29 states and Washington, D.C. The regions included the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and the West. Verizon Wireless tied in the Southeast, and U.S. Cellular beat out the big four in the North Central region. More information on the results is available on the J.D. Power and Associates website.

Rumors are swirling that Microsoft could officially launch its new Windows Phone 7 operating system, perhaps with a device partner, on October 11 in New York City. Microsoft originally said that it expected to launch the OS in Europe during October and in the U.S. by this November, so the rumors could hold some water.
