RadioShack to offer T-Mobile G2 Android smartphone for $149.99 Posted: 13 Sep 2010 04:40 AM PDT Over the weekend RadioShack posted to its Twitter account stating that it will offer the T-Mobile G2 for $149.99, $50 less than the announced retail price at Best Buy, with a 2-year T-Mobile contract. The T-Mobile G2 is an Android 2.2 powered smartphone, and is the first HSPA+ Android device in the world. RadioShack wasn't specific on when it would offer the device, but we suspect it will be on or around the October 6 launch date. Read the full story here. |
Garmin considering withdraw from smartphones Posted: 13 Sep 2010 04:30 AM PDT According to Reuters, the chief financial officer of navigation device manufacturer Garmin has said that his company's line of nuvifone smartphones has fallen short of company expectations so far, and that it will decide over the next couple of quarters on whether or not to shut down its struggling smartphone unit. Garmin has been working with ASUS on GPS-centric smartphones, including the Android powered Garminfone, since February of 2009, and first showed the original Linux-based nuvifone back in January of 2008. RIM could be losing its grip on U.S. banks - Reuters Posted: 12 Sep 2010 09:19 AM PDT Reuters is reporting that some of the country's largest banks are considering allowing their employees to use Apple iPhones and other smartphones instead of their time-honored BlackBerry devices. Reuters reports that JPMorgan is currently testing the iPhone and Android smartphones, and that a UBS spokesman has also said that his company is trialing iPhones, too. Read the full story here. |
