GSMA hosting Macworld Mobile during 2011 Mobile World Congress tradeshow Posted: 07 Sep 2010 05:04 AM PDT The GSMA has announced that it will feature Macworld Mobile during the Mobile World Congress tradeshow in Barcelona. "At Mobile World Congress, we will help international iOS developers to strengthen their skills, as well as facilitate connection with other developers and the worldwide audience of mobile decision makers who attend," the chief executive officer of IDG World Expo, Mary Dolaher, said. Macworld is a popular U.S. tradeshow for Apple developers and accessory makers, and Macworld mobile will provide a global meeting place for those working with Apple's mobile products. Samsung Fascinate Galaxy S Android smartphone for Verizon available tomorrow Posted: 07 Sep 2010 04:57 AM PDT Today Verizon Wireless announced that its own version of the Samsung Galaxy S Android-powered smartphone, the Samsung Fascinate, will be available tomorrow on Verizon's website and will be available in Verizon stores on Thursday, September 9. The Fascinate features a 4-inch {Super AMOLED} touchscreen display, a 1GHz Samsung processor, and a 5 megapixel camera that can also record 720p HD videos. LG: dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 Optimus smartphones launching in Q4 Posted: 07 Sep 2010 04:49 AM PDT LG has announced that it will introduce multiple smartphones that will be powered by NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 processor. The Tegra 2 piocessor will offer 2x faster web browsing, a 5x better gaming experience, and 1080p HD video playback. Nokia expected to debut E7 smartphone at Nokia World Posted: 07 Sep 2010 04:45 AM PDT According to Reuters, Nokia, the world's largest cellphone manufacturer, is expected to debut new smartphones at its London based media and industry event, Nokia World. Nokia is expected to take the wraps off of the E7, a new flagship device for the company, as well as a new N8 variant that expected run on the Symbian^3 operating system. Palm webOS 2.0 to feature virtual keyboard Posted: 06 Sep 2010 08:53 AM PDT An anonymous tip sent to PreCentral.net pointed out the presense of a "VirtualKeyboard" section in a file found in the webOS 2.0 early release software development kits provided to some developers. Palm had initially reacted to the leak by closing the SDK early access application process, but has since re-opened it. A virtual keyboard is seen as a key piece of the webOS puzzle if it is to move onto different form factors, such as tablets. Palm has made no official mention of virtual keyboards so far.
