Apple has sold over 315 million iOS devices worldwide

During the investor call for Apple's record breaking Q1 2012 financial results, the company announced that it has now sold over 315 million iOS devices worldwide since 2007. This includes sales of the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. For comparison, Google recently announced that there are now 250 million Android devices currently in use around the world.

Evernote for Android gets auto-titles, better image layout

Evernote has updated its popular Android app today to add a few new features that make it easier to compose notes and reminders when on the go. The new auto-title feature will automatically parse the created note's content to come up with a relevant title, saving time for the user, while the new save and continue function allows users to save their progress in a note without quitting out of it. The layout for embedded images in notes has been improved, and Evernote says there are other tweaks and performance enhancements throughout the app. Evernote for Android is free and can be downloaded from the Android Market now.

HTC calls on IBM for help breaking into the enterprise market

HTC is teaming up with business stalwart IBM in an effort to bring Android devices to the enterprise market. HTC has yet to make a dent in the lucrative business market that is dominated by RIM's BlackBerry, but now it is betting on the availability of IBM's enterprise apps to help it out.

Verizon offering Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX with 3300mAh battery on January 26

Verizon Wireless has officially announced that its Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX Android smartphone will be available for purchase starting on Thursday, January 26. The RAZR MAXX is an extended version super-thin DROID RAZR that comes equipped with a 3300mAh battery that offers nearly twice the capacity of the original. In spite of that battery, the MAXX still measures only 8.99mm thick. It offers 16GB of internal storage and ships with a 16GB microSD card and can be had for $299.99 when it goes on sale this week.

Orange customers in Middle East, Africa get free web access to Wikipedia

Global wireless carrier Orange has announced a partnership with the Wikimedia Foundation that will provide Orange subscribers in 20 countries across Africa and the Middle East with free access to the Wikipedia online encyclopedia. Orange will wave the data charges for accessing the site to its over 70 million customers in those countries.

Nokia fined $58k by Australian government for text message spam

It appears that the Australian Communications and Media Authority has fined Nokia $58,000 for sending "spam" text messages to its customers. The SMS messages were intended to inform new Nokia phone purchasers of how to get more out of their devices, but the fact that they promoted the company and offered the user no way to unsubscribe made them, for all intents and purposes, spam. Nokia has already turned off this service in Australia and is planning reduce its use in other parts of the world. Nokia told Reuters that it is now simpler to unsubscribe from the notifications on its newer handsets.

Dutch court says Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 doesn't infringe Apple design patents

A Dutch appeals court has upheld a previous decision by a lower court stating that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet does not infringe upon Apple's design patents. The lower court had denied Apple's request for an injunction against the device back in August 2011, prompting Apple to file an appeal.
