Untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 with iOS 5.0.1 now available

An untethered jailbreak for Apple's A5 processor-powered iOS 5.0.1 devices, the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S, was just made available for the first time yesterday. Use of the jailbreak application, which is called GreenPois0n, requires a Mac OS X computer, though versions for Windows and Linux are planned for the near future. The new jailbreak also requires that your device is running iOS 5.0.1 only. The jailbreak will be disabled if the device is later updated to iOS 5.0.2, according to the developers. HTC ThunderBolt 4G LTE smartphone free at Verizon Wireless through January 26

If its latest promotion is any indication, Verizon Wireless must be sitting on a large stock of HTC ThunderBolt smartphones, as the carrier is offering the 4G LTE Android device for free to new customers that sign a two-year agreement. Originally launched at $249 on-contract back in March of last year, the ThunderBolt has rather pedestrian specifications compared to today's smartphones. But if you are looking to get a 4G LTE smartphone without having to pull a couple of Benjamins out of your wallet, this could be the deal for you. The promotion ends on January 26, so head on over to your local Verizon Wireless retailer to get in on the action.
