The latest version of the app now supports schedules for more than one million transit stops in nearly 500 cities. It's now easier than ever to navigate public transit in select cities. Google+ Android app can now join Hangouts On-Air Posted: 15 Aug 2012 01:13 PM PDT The Google+ Android app has been updated to enable joining Hangouts On-Air. Though Google+ previously allowed mobile devices to access its group video chat feature, the app excluded Hangouts that were broadcast live through its On-Air function. Version 3.1 of Google+ removes that restriction, and it no longer blocks users under 18 from joining or starting Hangouts on a mobile device. According to Google employee Anish Acharya, iOS devices are still incompatible with Hangouts On-Air, but that feature is "coming soon." Download Google+ from Google Play Read the full story here. |

Nokia updates Lumia 900 with camera and performance enhancements Posted: 15 Aug 2012 10:46 AM PDT An update for the Nokia Lumia 900 is available for U.S. and Canadian customers. The update adds a handful of enhancements to the Lumia 900, including the flip-to-silence feature that silences an incoming call when the user puts the phone face down. The update also improves battery life; is more consistent when booting up; and improves the camera when using pocket-to-photo, which takes a picture directly from the lock screen. Canadian users can also get improved proximity sensors and access to the Contacts Share app. Lumia 900 owners can download the update through Zune for Windows or the Windows Phone 7 connector for Mac. Verizon 4G LTE launches in 34 new markets, expands in 38 others tomorrow Posted: 15 Aug 2012 10:11 AM PDT Verizon Wireless previously said that it plans to deliver 4G LTE service to 400 U.S. markets by the end of the year. The carrier will be closer to that goal tomorrow when it flips the switch in its 371st market. Verizon says it will launch LTE service in 34 new markets, and expand coverage in 38 existing areas tomorrow. The areas receiving 4G service for the first time are primarily in the Midwest; however, Verizon will increase coverage in cities throughout the U.S. The complete list of new and expanded markets is available here. Adobe no longer accepting new installs for Flash Player on Android Posted: 15 Aug 2012 07:19 AM PDT If someone tries to install Adobe Flash Player on an Android device today, there's a good chance that person will be unsuccessful. Windows Phone app publishing temporarily suspended due to download errors Posted: 15 Aug 2012 07:18 AM PDT Microsoft has suspended publishing new or updated Windows Phone apps due to an error affecting phones that have updated to Windows Phone 7.5.
