India threatens to stop RIM operations over BlackBerry security issues Posted: 28 Jul 2010 09:42 AM PDT India's Ministry of Home Affairs, frustrated with Research in Motion's encrypted email and messaging services, has asked RIM to follow its security guidelines or it will ask the company to stop operating in India. India's officials argue that RIM has followed security guidelines in other countries, and wants its security officials to be able to read encrypted email and messages to be read by security services. AT&T BlackBerry 9800 listed for "pre-sale" from online retailer Posted: 28 Jul 2010 08:06 AM PDT Online retailer MobileCity Online currently has the as-yet unannounced AT&T BlackBerry 9800 slider smartphone listed as being available for pre-sale, with images of the device. The phone is advertised with a no-contract price of $599.99, although MobileCity Online doesn't list a delivery date. Rogers launches Chatr wireless prepaid brand Posted: 28 Jul 2010 06:04 AM PDT Today Rogers launched Chatr, a new wireless prepaid brand with affordable monthly prices. Plans start at $35 per month for unlimited talk and incoming texts, and a $45 monthly plan includes voicemail, and unlimited outgoing texts. The Pearl 3G is the smallest to BlackBerry to date, weighing only 93g (3.3oz), but offers lots of big features to users like 3G connectivity, a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth technology. LG Application store for feature phones and smartphones now open Posted: 28 Jul 2010 05:35 AM PDT Today LG that it's new Application Store for feature phones and smartphones (currently just Windows Mobile) is now open. The store offers both games and applications, and LG plans to add Android apps to it later this year. The store opens today in 23 markets and it will expand to 33 countries by the end of the year, with a goal of offering 4,000 applications.
