Skype for iOS 4 now supports multitasking, plans for fee-based 3G calls scrapped Posted: 21 Jul 2010 05:54 PM PDT Today VoIP service provider Skype released an update for its iPhone client that supports the new Apple iOS 4 multitasking features. Users can receive Skype calls while using other applications or when the phone is locked, and can likewise switch to other applications during Skype calls. Google: Android 2.1 running on 55.5 percent of Android smartphones Posted: 21 Jul 2010 12:57 PM PDT Today Google published data suggesting that 55.5 percent of all Android smartphones are running the Android 2.1 (Eclair) version of the Android OS. Android 2.2 (Froyo) accounts for 3.3 percent, Android 1.6 (Donut) is on 22.1 percent, and Android 1.5 (Cupcake) 18.9 percent. Fring for Android gets video chat improvements Posted: 21 Jul 2010 10:42 AM PDT The Fring VoIP application for the Android smartphone platform has received a number of video chatting improvements. According to a post by the developer, the new Fring release offers significant audio improvements, support for new devices like the Galaxy S, and a fix for an echo problem.
