Verizon Wireless LG Ally preorders supposedly begin May 13th, more specs revealed

Rumor has it that the LG Ally will launch on Verizon Wireless, and that preorders will begin on May 13th, with full availability happening on May 20th. We'll be reporting from an LG event tonight with more details.

Nexus One not coming to Sprint, HTC EVO 4G will be offered instead

Sprint will not sell the Google Nexus One, and will instead sell the more powerful Android powered HTC EVO 4G, a WiMAX capable smartphone, a Sprint representative told Mobile Burn. "Nexus One, the first wireless phone sold through Google's Web store, will not be coming to Sprint's 3G Mobile Broadband Network given the upcoming availability of the award-winning HTC EVO 4G. Announced this sprint at CTIA, HTC EVO 4G is expected to be available exclusively from Sprint this summer," spokesperson Mark Elliott said.

AT&T Palm Pre Plus landing on May 16th for $149.99 with free Touchstone wireless charger

Today AT&T announced on its Facebook page that the Palm Pre Plus webOS powered smartphone will launch on May 16th for $149.99 after a 2-year contract and with a mail-in-rebate. Those who purchase the Palm Pre Plus will receive a free Touchstone wireless charging dock for a limited time. AT&T says more information will be available on the 16th when the device launches.

U.S. Cellular reports Q1 2010 figures, sees flat subscriber growth

Today U.S. Cellular reported its Q1 2010 earnings. The carrier added 24,000 retail net additions, which represents a gain of 33,000 prepaid customers and a loss of 9,000 postpay customers. The carrier now has roughly 6.1 million customers. Service revenues were $965.2 million, down 2 percent from Q4 2009, and data revenues increased 28 percent to 201.3 million. U.S. Cellular also appointed Mary Dillon as the new CEO. Dillon will replace John Rooney.

WiFi Alliance and WiGig Alliance announce cooperation agreement

The WiFi Alliance and the WiGig Alliance have announced a partnership in which the two groups will share tech specifications for the development of a WiFi certification program for WiFi support in the 60GHz frequency spectrum.

NPD: Android tops iPhone in U.S. market share

A new report by NPD says that Android now has a greater U.S. marketshare than Apple's iPhone OS X operating system, making it the second most popular OS overall (behind RIM). However, the results of the report do not include sales of corporate/enterprise mobile devices.

U.S. Cellular to offer Samsung R880 Acclaim Android Smartphone

On its Facebook page today, U.S. Cellular said that it will offer the Samsung R880 Acclaim, an Android 2.1 powered smartphone, "around July." U.S. Cellular noted that it will have a 3.2-inch HVGA display, and a full QWERTY keyboard, but didn't give much more information on the phone. The carrier did not reveal pictures or pricing, either.

O2 announces data plan prices for iPad WiFi + 3G

Today O2 revealed its 3G data plans for the Apple iPad 3G. A 500MB plan will cost £2 ($2.99) per day, 1GB will set you back £10 ($14.95) every 30 days, and a 3GB plan costs £15 ($22.43) every 30 days. O2 will provide customers with access to its BT Openzone and The Cloud WiFi hotspots at no additional cost.

Sprint launches SPH-m350 Seek QWERTY touchscreen feature phone

Today Samsung and Sprint announced the new SPH-m350 Seek, a feature phone with a touchscreen display and a full QWERTY keyboard that will retail for $29.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and with a 2-year contract.
