AT&T releases Android 4.0 for Captivate Glide

In March, AT&T pledged to deliver Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the Samsung Captivate Glide. The company has made good on that promise today by announcing the availability of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Captivate Glide, which has used Android 2.3 since its release in 2011. The update adds new lock screen features, data management tools, and several interface improvements. Captivate Glide owners can install the new firmware through the Samsung Kies desktop software for MacOS or Windows. Download requirements and installation instructions are available here.

FCC to auction TV airwaves to phone companies by 2014

Everything Everywhere to unveil 4G network plans on September 11

Everything Everywhere, the joint venture between the UK divisions of Orange and T-Mobile, will share details about its upcoming LTE network next week. EE has sent MobileBurn an invitation to a September 11 event during which the venture will share "exciting information on our new brand and the latest innovation in network technology." Ofcom recently approved EE to launch an LTE or WiMAX network, despite protests from rivals who say it gives the operator an unfair advantage. Everything Everywhere will discuss its plans to become the first - and only until at least 2013 - operator of a 4G network in the UK at the event.

Sprint begins Android 4.1 update for Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G

Sprint has confirmed that it has started updating the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Though GSM variants of the device were updated to Jelly Bean in July, Sprint's CDMA/LTE model is seeing the upgrade for the first time. The new software shortens load times, and reduces buffering for faster transitions when switching between apps. It also adds expandable notifications, better voice dictation and search, and the new search app that includes Google Now. Sprint has also confirmed that within the next week, all Sprint Nexus S 4G devices should be updated as well.

Nokia Lumia 920 goes on sale in November, says Reuters

When Nokia debuted its new Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 device earlier this week, CEO Stephen Elop refused to share any specific details about its price or release date. Reuters now reports that Nokia's flagship phone will debut in select European countries this November.
