Though Canada and the U.S. have a similar percentage of smartphone users, research firm comScore reports that the mobile landscape is more competitive in Canada. Android reigns, but the gap is smaller than it is in the U.S.

HP will get back into the smartphone business - someday

When HP began its firesale of its Touchpad tablet and declared that it would cease building webOS devices, it appeared as though the company was going to abandon the mobile computing business completely. That's not the case according to a recent interview with CEO Meg Whitman.

iPhone 5 pre-orders open, some won't ship for up two weeks

Apple iPhone 5 pre-orders began at 3 AM ET today, and Apple may have already exhausted its supply of phones guaranteed to ship by the original September 21 date. Initial pre-orders for the iPhone 5 stated that the phone would ship on September 21, but new orders are listed as "Available to ship in 2 weeks." That means the devices could take until September 28 to arrive. Anxious iPhone 5 customers in the US, UK, and other countries can still pre-order a device at Apple.com, but they can also visit an Apple or carrier retail store on September 21 to attempt to buy one in person.
