BlackBerry 10 L and N series phones appear in leaked marketing video

A leaked internal marketing video, which has since been removed, shows renders of two smartphone models that may debut next year. CrackBerry has posted screenshots of an all-touchscreen device and a phone that has a portrait QWERTY keyboard.

Sony Xperia go, Xperia U, and Xperia sola get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update

Sony has another update waiting for some of its Android customers. In addition to a software update for its Tablet S, Sony has also announced that it is upgrading the Xperia go, Xperia U, and Xperia sola smartphones to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The update adds a new lock screen, resizable widgets, better multitasking, and Extended Standby mode. It also adds new Sony media apps for music (WALKMAN), photos (Album), and video (Movies). Users can apply the update through a PC or Mac by following the instructions provided at SonyMobile.com

T-Mobile sells 7,200 cell towers for $2.4 billion, plans to use money to pay debt and enhance network

T-Mobile USA has agreed to sell the rights to 7,200 cell towers to Crown Castle, a wireless communications infrastructure operator, for $2.4 billion. T-Mobile says that it will use money generated from the deal to accelerate its efforts to launch LTE and a modernized HSPA+ network next year.

TI not abandoning mobile just yet, confirms OMAP 5 still on track for 2013 commercial release

Texas Instruments made comments earlier this week that seemed to suggest that the company would abandon its mobile processor development business in favor of less competitive embedded markets. TI has said that it will pursue new business opportunities, but it's not abandoning mobile devices.

American Express launches iOS 6 Passbook support for account monitoring

American Express has launched its new American Express Pass for Apple Passbook that will enable account monitoring on an Apple iPhone running iOS 6. The credit card company allows account holders to see their current balance, recent activity, and get customer service links with Apple's Passbook. It does not currently allow for any redemption or loyalty information like passes from most other companies; this is designed strictly to monitor an AmEx credit card account. Cardholders can sync their information by visiting amexpassbook.com from an iOS 6-enabled iPhone or iPod touch.
