Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone spotted

Engadget recently got its hands on photos of Sony Ericsson's upcoming PlayStation phone, a device that The Wall Street Journal claimed was being developed back in March. The PlayStation phone is expected to run the Android 3.0 Gingerbread operating system. It's said to be powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, offer 1GB of ROM, 512MB of RAM, and a Sony Marketplace for downloading games. Engadget said the screen is between 3.7 to 4.1 inches large, too. Rumor has it the PlayStation phone was set for a 2010 release but it may launch in 2011 instead.

White iPhone 4 delayed until next spring

The white iPhone 4 has been delayed yet again. Reuters is reporting that the white iPhone 4 will not be released until next spring. "We're sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again," an Apple spokesperson said. In the past Apple has said that the white iPhone was "more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected."

Barnes & Noble outs Nook Color Android powered e-reader tablet

Today Barnes & Noble announced the Nook Color, an Android powered e-reader tablet with a 7-inch touchscreen. The Nook Color offers 8GB of storage, a 1024 x 600 pixel display, and a few apps such as Pandora and Sudoku. The Nook Color can access over 2 million books from Barnes & Noble and will launch on November 19 for $249.

PayPal Mobile 3.0 for iPhone announced

Today PayPal announced its latest application for iPhone users, version 3.0. PayPal Mobile 3.0 lets merchants send deals and promotions to customer's phones based on their locations. Customers can then purchase goods using PayPal or BlingTag from Bling Nation using their PayPal for iPhone 3.0 app. The service is launching as a beta in San Francisco first.

AT&T launches Eco App for iPhone, iPod touch

Today AT&T announced that it has released "Eco App," in the iTunes app store. The application lets users locate recycling facilities nearby, provides info on the benefits of paperless billing, and offers tips and updates on local events focused on environmental issues. Users can also make secure donations to the Arbor Day Foundation through the application. The foundation will plant a tree in each contributor's honor. AT&T Eco App is available for free in the iTunes App Store now.

iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 security flaw lets anyone bypass your password lock

An iPhone glitch spotted by 9to5Mac lets users access locked iPhone 4 devices running iOS 4.1 by pressing a series of buttons. If a user taps "Emergency Call," on an iPhone 4, dials a non-emergency number, and then clicks "Send," the user will then be able to access the main Phone application, which includes the dial pad, contacts (send an email or SMS), voicemails, favorites, and recent calls. Engadget said that if you hold down the menu button to access voice controls, you'll be able to access the iPhone's music, too.

TELUS updates HTC Hero to Android 2.1 "Eclair"

HTC and TELUS have released the Android 2.1 "Eclair" update for the HTC Hero. The update provides Google Navigation for turn-by-turn directions, voice activated dialing, and more. The Hero automatically checks for an update every 7 days, or you can manually check for one by opening the phone's settings menu. HTC recommends you backup your data first. There's no word on whether the update will be available on the Sprint HTC Hero, too.

TELUS HTC Desire updated to Android 2.2 Froyo

Today TELUS and HTC released the Android 2.2 "Froyo" update for the HTC Desire. Android 2.2 provides a host of improvements, including the ability to broadcast your 3G signal as a Wi-Fi hotspot and store apps on your memory card. Froyo also offers a richer browser experience with Flash 10.1 support. HTC's website should have the update available on it soon.

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 headed to Windows Phone 7

Yesterday Adobe made a number of announcements involving its AIR 2.5 product for mobile devices, desktops, televisions, and more. Adobe also said that it will offer Flash Player 10.1 for "future versions of Windows Phone," which we take to mean Windows Phone 7. Adobe said it will also offer the player on LiMo, MeeGo, and Symbian OS devices. Adobe did not give a timetable for when it would deploy Flash Player 10.1 to Windows Phone 7 devices.

White iPhone 4 reservations appear in Apple Store application

Reservations for Apple's white iPhone 4 are available in the Apple Store iPhone application, according to Boy Genius Report. In the application, if you choose "Reservations," and then select "Reserve Product," you can choose to reserve the 16GB of 32GB iPhone 4 in white, with prices starting at $199. The white iPhone 4 isn't available on Apple's website, though, and it's unclear when it will ship.

Sprint teams with Openwave for browser based applications

Today Sprint announced that it is working with Openwave's Integra technology to add new services within mobile phone browsers. Developers will be able to create applications that can run in the browser, which helps eliminate the need to create an app for a specific platform. "With the launch of the Sprint Browser-VAS Ecosystem powered by Openwave, developers now can create applications that can be executed in the browser, within the Sprint 3G network or in the cloud, to ultimately provide new and innovative applications and services for Sprint's customers," said Len Barlik, vice president of wireless and wireline services for Sprint.

Huawei Ideos S7 tablet Best Buy pre-orders begin

The Huawei Ideos S7, a 7-inch Android tablet, is now available for pre-order from Best Buy. The Ideos S7 offers 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a 2MP camera. You can pre-order it for $299 today, and Best Buy estimates that it will arrive between November 7 and November 11.

Garmin still a "very close" ASUS partner

Today ASUS (Asustek) commented on yesterday's announcement that it will split from developing smartphones with Garmin under the name "Garmin-ASUS." Today, ASUS offered some insight into the split as well as plans for the future. "We are moving from co-brand to brand cooperation, and we will use Garmin's solutions in our new Android phones exclusively for a couple of years," ASUS general manager of personal mobile devices Benson Lin said, noting that Garmin will be a "very close partner." Reuters points out that Garmin could now create and sell applications for Android, iPhone, and other platforms.
