Android Market updated on older devices

According to some users across the web, Google's Android Market has been updated on older versions of Android. Users on devices as far back as Android 1.6 are reporting the new ability to update apps in bulk, and also the option to allow applications to update themselves. According to Life Hacker, the update isn't being applied to every phone, and some users may need to restart their phones to notice the change.

Microsoft Windows Phone 7 sync for Mac coming later this year

Microsoft has confirmed that a Mac sync client for Windows Phone 7 devices will be released by the end of this year. In a statement to Mobile Burn, Microsoft said, "Later in 2010 Microsoft will make a public beta available of a tool that allows Windows Phone 7 to sync select content with Mac computers." Currently, Windows Phone 7 devices can only sync with PC computers.

Apple outs iOS 4.2 beta 3 for developers

Apple has released the latest beta of its iOS 4 operating system for developers, iOS 4.2 beta 3. The beta software is supported on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Apple also released iTunes 10.1 beta 2 which includes support for wireless printing from an iOS application.

ZTE Light 3G Android tablet introduced

China's ZTE has announced a new Android-powered tablet, the Light. This new device offers users a 7-inch color touchscreen display and UMTS based 3G data. The Light will run Google's Android 2.1 operating system and features GPS, Wi-Fi, a camera, an FM radio, and Bluetooth. ZTE did not provide availability information or pricing details at this time but did indicate that it has received many orders for the Light already.

Apple in talks for CDMA iPhone in India

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Indian telecom operators Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices Ltd. are reportedly in talks with Apple to sell a CDMA version of the iPhone. Apple has declined to comment.

Samsung delays Galaxy Tab launch in South Korea

Samsung Electronics has said today that it will be delaying the launch of its recently announced Android-powered Galaxy Tab tablet computer in its home market of South Korean. The company initially planned on debuting the tablet on October 14, but, according to company spokesperson Jason Kim, the event will be pushed back a week or two to better equip the device with localized applications for the Korean market.

Telus getting HTC 7 Surround Windows Phone 7 smartphone

Telus has added the new HTC 7 Surround smartphone to the coming soon section of its website. This Windows Phone 7 device features Dolby Surround Sound with SRS enabled speakers as well as a 1GHz processor, 8GB of storage under the hood, and a 3.8-inch touchscreen display with an 800 x 480 pixel resolution. The built-in 5 megapixel camera is also capable of recording HD video. Pricing and availability have not been announced at this time.

Apple seeks approval to sell iPad in South Korea

Apple is seeking approval to sell its tablet, the iPad, in South Korea according Korea's Communications Commission. The Commission said it hopes to make a decision within five days of the request by Apple, which means it will decide next week whether it will approve the device for use in South Korea. A spokesman for KT Corp, the local distributor of Apple's iPhone, said KT Corp hopes to release the iPad in November once the certification is completed.

Wal-Mart has announced that it will offer Apple's iPad starting this Friday at hundreds of stores throughout the United States. Wal-Mart comes a bit late to the game with both Best Buy and its main rival, Target Corp., already selling the iOS-powered tablet. Wal-Mart will offer the iPad both in-store and online starting at $499 for the 16GB WiFi version.
