| Skype for iPhone updated with 3G video calling Posted: 30 Dec 2010 04:45 AM PST Skype for iPhone with video calling is now available. The service launched this morning and will allow iPhone users to place Skype video calls with other iPhone users, or computers, over both 3G and Wi-Fi networks. Best of all, the app is free. | Man punches teen for using iPhone during flight Posted: 29 Dec 2010 12:04 PM PST A 68-year old man on a Southwest Airlines flight for punching a 15 year old for using his iPhone during the plane's descent, ABC News is reporting. The 15-year old was listening to his music and playing games after flight attendants told the flight's passengers to turn off electronics during landing. The teen didn't respond, and the man, Russell E. Miller, punched him in the arm. Miller was reportedly arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery and has been released from police custody. | HP Palm may name upcoming webOS devices the Broadway, Manta, and Topaz Posted: 29 Dec 2010 10:49 AM PST HP Palm has issued a casting call for actors and actresses that, likely, will be holding its devices in some sort of upcoming video or commercial. In the casting call, HP Palm lists three product names under the header "HP Palm Phones." The products are dubbed the "Broadway," Manta," and "Topaz." It's possible that the Topaz is HP Palm's upcoming webOS tablet, and the Manta name has been spotted before in webOS 2.0 source code. Little else is known about the names or the devices, although we hope to hear more during CES. Read the full story here. |
| Skype teasing new video sharing service Posted: 29 Dec 2010 10:00 AM PST Skype has setup a teaser website showing a sample of a mobile video sharing service it may be launching during the Consumer Electronics Show next week. It appears for now that the service will only allow the sharing of clips, and not live mobile video chat as we had hoped. Read the full story here. |

| Verizon unveiling 4G LTE Android devices on January 6 Posted: 29 Dec 2010 06:35 AM PST Yesterday Verizon Wireless sent us an invitation to a news conference on January 6 during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. In the invitation, Verizon Wireless confirmed that it will be showing a sneak peek of its upcoming Android-based 4G LTE consumer devices. Verizon was not specific on what those devices will be, although we suspect at least one of them is the HTC "Thunderbolt" smartphone that has been leaked in some teaser images. | RadioShack ad leaks $149.99 HTC EVO Shift 4G Android smartphone for Sprint Posted: 29 Dec 2010 06:21 AM PST An advertisement for RadioShack has leaked a new Android smartphone that may end up on Sprint, the HTC EVO Shift 4G. | HTC issues ROM upgrade for Orange Touch2 Posted: 29 Dec 2010 05:09 AM PST HTC has released an updated ROM for the Touch2 on Orange. HTC did not detail what is included in the update, although we suspect it's likely minor performance increases and bug fixes. As always, HTC suggests backing up your data before applying the update.
