Samsung Galaxy S III launches in 28 countries, blue model faces delays

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S III, the company's new flagship smartphone, is now available for purchase in 28 countries and will be available in 145 countries by July. Unfortunately for prospective buyers, stock of the new phone may be in short supply thanks to some manufacturing difficulties with the pebble blue model.

Windows Phones with 256MB RAM unable to install certain apps from Marketplace

One of the major new features in the Tango update to Windows Phone 7.5 is support for devices with slower processors and only 256MB of RAM. This means that Windows Phone can be installed on lower cost hardware and reach a wider audience, but it unfortunately also comes with some app compatibility problems.

LG has sold 3 million 4G LTE smartphones across the world

LG has announced that it has now sold three million LTE smartphones in markets across the world. LG's line of 4G LTE smartphones include the Revolution, the Optimus LTE and its variants, the Optimus Vu, the Optimus LTE Tag, and the Optimus LTE II. The company says that it plans to expand the number of markets where it offers LTE devices from 10 to 20 by the end of this year.

Facebook still working on its own smartphone says NYT

Rumors that Facebook is working on its own smartphone to compete against Apple and Google have been circulating for what feels like forever, but a new report from The New York Times says the social network is still at it. Reportedly, Facebook has quietly hired a team of hardware engineers with backgrounds in developing smartphones and mobile devices to help it create a smartphone of its own.

LG unveils 5-inch 1080p HD display for mobile devices

LG is no stranger to the smartphone/tablet hybrid device - its Optimus Vu smartphone features a 4:3 aspect ratio 5-inch display and custom apps to take advantage of the large screen. Despite the criticism levied against the Vu (odd size, outdated software), it doesn't look like LG is ready to give up on this "phablet" market, as the company has just announced a new, high-resolution display for mobile devices that could very well be used in future smartphone/tablet hybrid devices.
