Angry Birds notches its 1 billionth download

Rovio has announced that its ever-popular Angry Birds game has notched its 1 billionth download since its release. Angry Birds Space, the latest version of the franchise, has been credited as the fastest growing mobile game in history. Various iterations of Angry Birds are now available on a number of mobile platforms, including iOS, Android, webOS, BlackBerry, Symbian, and Windows Phone.

New Google+ for Android app coming in "a few weeks"

As part of its announcement of the new version of Google+ for the Apple iPhone, Google dropped a hint that an equally sexy new G+ client for the Android platform would be available in a few weeks. Google also noted that the Android version would have a few extra surprises in it. Considering how good the iPhone version looks, and the fact that the Android mobile client already has support for rich web snippets when sharing, we expect the new app to be very cool indeed.

Indian government to enact law to fight Vodafone in tax battle

After having lost the battle in an Indian high court, it appears that the Indian government is going to attempt a different tact in trying to collect a few billion dollars in taxes from Vodafone for its purchase of a 67 percent stake in Hutchison Whampoa's Indian mobile unit.

Best Buy has announced that it has opened pre-orders for Sprint's new HTC EVO 4G LTE Android smartphone. Customers will receive a $50 Best Buy gift card with each purchase. The gift card promo will run through July 7. The HTC EVO 4G LTE will be available starting May 18 for $199.99, with a qualifying Sprint two year contract. In addition, Best Buy is offering $50 HTC EVO 4G trade-in credits towards the purchase of a new Sprint device. The EVO 4G LTE offers a massive 4.7-inch HD touchscreen display, the Android 4.0 ICS operating system, as well as Beats Audio technology.

Sprint has announced that the HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone will be available on May 18 for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. The EVO 4G LTE features support for Sprint's yet-to-be-launched LTE network, and has a 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD2 display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, and an 8 megapixel camera. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC's Sense 4.0 interface atop it. Pre-orders for the device can be placed at www.sprint.com/evo4glte.
