1 million third-party apps now support Twitter

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 02:35 PM PDT

Twitter has announced that there are now over 1 million third-party apps from 750,000 developers registered to use the service. A new app gets registered every 1.5 seconds. Just one year ago, the platform laid claim to 150,000 third-party apps, so the growth is truly tremendous. Android Honeycomb update to include zoom-to-fit app scaling

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 12:30 PM PDT

A future release of Android Honeycomb for tablets will include a new button at the bottom to choose between stretching an app to fit or zooming it to fit a larger screen. This will be for apps that do not natively scale to the larger screen sizes that Honeycomb supports. If the zoom option is selected, the app will be emulated in a 320 x 480 pixel window, and then scaled up to fit the size of the screen. The result will certainly be pixilated, but it should be useable, much like iPhone apps are when scaled up on the iPad. Google says this release of Honeycomb is coming in the near future, but unfortunately does not offer an exact release date. Could this be part of Android 3.2 Honeycomb that is rumored to show up very shortly?
