Vlingo updates BlackBerry app with SafeReader function

Today Vlingo announced that it has added a SafeReader feature to its application that is immediately available. Before getting in your car, launch Vlingo and say "Start SafeReader," and the application will read your text messages aloud to you.

AT&T to roll out its 3G MicroCell nationwide

Today AT&T said that it will begin rolling out its AT&T 3G MicroCell nationwide, starting with a few cities next month. The MicroCell costs $149.99 and allows you to route wireless voice and data over your home broadband network.

Slacker Radio launches for Windows Mobile 6.5

Today Slacker Radio announced that its popular streaming radio application is now available for Windows Mobile 6.5. It will come pre-installed on the HTC HD2 on T-Mobile, but unfortunately, it looks like offline caching is not available on this version. You can download the app from Slacker.com.

CTIA: 1.5 trillion text messages were sent in 2009

The CTIA released the results from its semi-annual Wireless Industry Survey today, and it included some compelling statistics. For one, over 1.5 trillion text messages were sent in 2009. Wireless service revenues also increased.

T-Mobile HTC HD2 smartphone available today

GSMA launches Spam Reporting Service trial for AT&T, Korea Telecom, and SFR

Today the GSMA announced that it has started trials of its Spam Reporting Service initiative with AT&T Mobility, Korea Telecom, and SFR. Operated by Cloudmark, Inc., the service will allow customers to send shortcode SMS texts with "7726" or "SPAM" in it, to report spam text messages. A feedback system will notice the spam report and will inform the respective service provider.
