HTC HD2 available from T-Mobile USA on March 24

As its launch party in NYC was just getting underway, T-Mobile announced via Twitter that the HTC HD2 would be available to its customers starting March 24 for $199.99. The HD2 is a Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone that features a massive 4.3-inch display. You can read our review of the EU model here.

It seems hard to believe given Microsoft's typical focus around business functionality in its smartphones, but rumors are swirling that its latest operating system, Windows Phone 7 Series, could lack copy and paste support. Average price of paid smartphone apps up 43 percent this year

The Yankee Group has released its latest report, titled The Mobile App Gold Rush Speeds Up, which found that the price of smartphone apps has risen since last year. It also discovered that AT&T customers download the most apps, and a few other compelling tidbits about the smartphone application market.

Google Nexus One smartphone lands on AT&T and Rogers Wireless for $529

Today Google launched the Nexus One with support for 3G on AT&T and Rogers Wireless. The phone is retailing right now on Google's website, www.google.com/phone, for $529.00 without a carrier contract. The Nexus One originally launched for T-Mobile, and a Verizon Wireless version is expected later this year.

Motorola DROID tops iPhone sales in first 74 days

Motorola sold 1.05 million Android powered DROID devices in its first 74 days on the market, the same period it took Apple to sell 1 million iPhones after the device first launched on June 29th, 2007. Google, however, sold just 135,000 Nexus One units during the same time period.

DemoAnywhere lets Sprint customers test drive 30+ phones

Sprint today launched its new DemoAnywhere service powered by DeviceAnywhere. The service will allow customers to try out new devices online before they purchase them, using a web interface, and Sprint will also use it to improve customer support.

Final versions of Opera Mini 5 and Opera Mobile 10 released

Today Opera Software announced that its Opera Mini 5 and Opera Mobile 10 web browsers are now full products, outside of the beta testing phase for most phones. Opera Mini 5 is available for Java-based BlackBerry devices, while the company says the product is still in beta for Android and Windows Mobile handsets. Opera Mobile 10 is available for Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 phones. Opera didn't detail what was added to the final release of both browsers, which are available at m.opera.com.
