"Sleek, metallic" Nokia Lumia 900 to debut for AT&T next week

The New York Times is reporting that the long-awaited flagship Nokia Windows Phone smartphone for the U.S. will debut next week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Citing unnamed sources, the Times describes the phone as "sleek" and "metallic," and says it will be named the Lumia 900. It will be carried by AT&T, but the sources did not specify as to whether or not it would have support for AT&T's new 4G LTE network. Earlier rumors have said that the forthcoming device will have a large, 4.3-inch display with a similar industrial design to the already-released Lumia 800. We should have more information this coming Monday when the CES show officially kicks off.

Microsoft kills "Where's My Phone Update?" site for Windows Phone

Microsoft has announced that it will no longer maintain or update the "Where's My Phone Update?" website that informed Windows Phone users as to when the latest version of the operating system would be available for their devices. The website was particularly useful during the rollout of the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update this past fall.

Samsung's ChatON cross-platform messaging app lands in the App Store

Samsung has released the iOS version of its cross-platform messaging app ChatON. Previously available for Android and bada smartphones, the new iOS version will attempt to go head-to-head with Apple's iMessage service on the iPhone.
