Skype 2.0 for Android brings two-way video calls to select phones

Skype has announced version 2.0 of its Android app that finally brings the long-awaiting two-way video calling feature that iOS uses have enjoyed since last December. There is a catch, though, and its a big one. Only four phones are currently supported: HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro, and the Google Nexus S.

Facebook for Android gets behind the scenes UI update

Facebook for Android was recently updated to version 1.6 that added features like video uploading but no apparent UI changes or improvements. It seems that it has taken a few days for some other, unannounced new features to take effect, as reports around the web have said that there is a new interface for navigating the News Feed. We can confirm that this is the case, as the new features have become available on our devices.

Samsung Galaxy S II headed to Bell in Canada, at some point

Samsung's Galaxy S II wunderphone is coming to Canada via Bell. We just don't know when. The dual-core powerhouse has been teased on a new page that advertises a contest to win one of the flagship phones, but no price or release date has been revealed. The winner of the contest will be selected on July 19, so you can extrapolate from that what you will. Consumers buying e-readers at a faster pace than tablets

Pew Internet Project recently released a survey that shows the significant difference between e-reader and tablet adoption in the United States. The survey of 2,277 adults showed that e-reader growth was larger than tablets over a three month period.

RIM releases BlackBerry Messenger Social SDKs for developers

RIM has released two new software development kits (SDK) for developers that allow them to integrate BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) directly into their apps. The BBM Social SDK 1.0 for BlackBerry Java and BBM Social SDK 1.0 for BlackBerry WebWorks give developers the tools to put BBM features and social interactions into their apps. Motorola DEFY on T-Mobile UK finally getting Android 2.2 Froyo

Most owners of the Motorola DEFY in the UK have probably already received the update to Android 2.2 Froyo that was released a few weeks back, but those who happen to have bought their DEFY through T-Mobile have been left in the lurch. They shouldn't be upset for too much longer, though, as T-Mobile has announced that users can expect the update to roll out at the beginning of July. Android 2.2 Froyo brings a number of improvements, including faster performance and the ability to move apps to the SD card. T-Mobile users will probably be happy to get the latest and greatest from April 2010, but I wouldn't hold my breath for a 2.3 Gingerbread update for the DEFY.
