If you are itching to get your hands on the latest in Nokia's venerable E-series line of business smartphones, the E6, then it looks like your best bet is to head to Amazon. The e-tailer has listed the Symbian Anna packing handset for pre-order for $446. Of course, at that price you get an unlocked smartphone without any obligations or ties to a carrier. Still, unless you are a die-hard Symbian nut, there might be better places to spend your hard-earned money.

Google Maps for Android has seen a minor update today that brings the version number up to 5.6 and adds a feature to help users pick out the right restaurant while on the go. Users can now view restaurant awards and "Best Ever" ratings within Place pages in Maps so they can determine which restaurants stand out from the others. Google Maps for Android 5.6 is free and available in the Android Market now.

LightSquared petitions the FCC for more time for GPS testing

LightSquared, the startup network that is looking to deploy terrestrial LTE service in the U.S., has filed for an extension with the FCC to gain more time to complete testing to determine whether its network interferes with GPS signals. Tests thus far have indicated that it does interfere with GPS, but LightSquared wants time to collect more date.

HTC Sensation available from Three UK today

We knew it was coming, and today is the day that Three UK breaks Vodafone's exclusivity on the HTC Sensation. Customers can now pick up the dual-core, qHD screen-packing Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone at Three UK stores and online. The carrier is offering the Sensation for free on various two-year contracts, or for 449 GBP (US$724) off-contract.

HTC to chop apps from Desire Gingerbread upgrade to make it fit

In the ongoing saga that is the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire, we were wondering how HTC managed to fit the update onto the Desire's limited memory, when it previously said that it was not possible. Well, it turns out that HTC will be cutting "select apps" from the build in order to make the update fit. The company did not specify which apps would hit the chopping block, but it did say that it would release more details next week.

Samsung Infuse 4G headed to Canada on Rogers, with Gingerbread in tow

Canadian carrier Rogers has made it known that the 4.5-inch, super-sized smartphone known as the Samsung Infuse 4G will be arriving on its network in the near future. The Canadian version will apparently debut with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a one-up on its American cousin, which is still languishing on AT&T with Android 2.2 Froyo. Otherwise, specs appear to be the same, including the support for Rogers' 21Mbps HSPA+ network. Unfortunately, Rogers did not give a final release date or price for the Infuse 4G, so we will have to sit tight for that information.
