The new handset offers Android 2.2 Froyo, a large 4-ich qHD touchscreen display, a zippy 1GHz dual-core processor and is able to be easily paired up to computer with a separately purchased Motorola LAPDOCK ($479.99). | Sprint making surprise phone announcement on Thursday Posted: 21 Feb 2011 08:56 AM PST It looks like Sprint has a phone announcement up its sleeve for later this week. On Twitter today the carrier teased: "What do you think the new phone will be? Find out Thursday! #comebackfeb24." Sprint didn't provide any details on what the new device will be, so it's up in the air. Engadget notes an updated EVO 4G or CDMA iPhone would be a welcome surprise, although we figure we'd have seen some leaks, or a scheduled press conference, by now if that were the case. | Video: Samsung Galaxy Gio live video demo Posted: 21 Feb 2011 08:43 AM PST The Samsung Galaxy Gio is a new Android 2.2 (Froyo) smartphone, and features a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display and a 3 megapixel camera that is also capable of QVGA video capture. Under the skin it has a nippy 800MHz processor, which helps to run Samsung's custom TouchWiz UI on top of the Android OS. | Verizon V Cast Music for Android updated Posted: 21 Feb 2011 08:17 AM PST Verizon Wireless has updated its V Cast Music app for its Android smartphones. The latest version lets users browse and purchase full track songs, ringtones, and ringback tones, all in one place. Songs are available for $0.69, $0.99, or $1.29 each, and Verizon says there are discounts if you purchase a song with a corresponding ringback or ringtone bundle. | Video: Samsung Galaxy Fit video demo Posted: 21 Feb 2011 05:56 AM PST The Samsung Galaxy Fit is an Android 2.2 (Froyo) smartphone with a 3.3-inch QVGA touchscreen display and a 600 MHz processor. Samsung has loaded the Galaxy Fit with its TouchWiz 3.0 user interface and also Swype for easier text input. It offers a 5 megapixel camera, which is capable of recording QVGA video at 15fps, and will come with a 2GB microSD card in the box. Watch the video here. |
