Video: HTC Inspire 4G (AT&T) video review - part 1 of 2

Here's an unboxing and a feature tour of the AT&T Inspire 4G, a new Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone on AT&T that's the first device to take advantage of its HSPA+ 4G network. The Inspire is based upon HTC's Desire HD that is sold in other parts of the world.

Microsoft seeding copy/paste feature to WP7 developers

During a recent episode of the PPCGeeks Podcast, Microsoft's Brandon Watson, director of developer relations, said that Microsoft will issue a version of Windows Phone Developer tools that's packaged with copy/paste functionality today. The update also include performance enhancements for app load times, CNET said. It still remains unclear when the update will be pushed to Windows Phone 7 handsets, but this is a sign that it's at least closer to happening than ever before.

RIM intros BlackBerry Trade-up Program

Today Research In Motion announced and launched its new BlackBerry Trade-up Program. BlackBerry owners can trade-in their old BlackBerry devices towards the purchase of a new one. Depending on the model and condition, RIM will provide up to $120 towards the new purchase. We tested the service briefly and found that a BlackBerry Bold 9000 in good condition without any water or screen damage was worth $75 towards the purchase of a new BlackBerry Bold 9700. AT&T offering some iPhone owners a free 3G microcell

AT&T is reportedly emailing some of its iPhone customers, likely those that are nearly finished with their contracts, and offering free 3G microcells. Those who take advantage of the offer will need to sign into a new 1-year AT&T contract.

Motorola XOOM Android Honeycomb tablet expected to debut February 24

Best Buy Grand Rapids Facebook page, which leaked the date of HTC's ThunderBolt smartphone for Verizon, has also revealed the date for the highly anticipated Android tablet from Motorola, the XOOM. The XOOM runs Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system and will be offered by Verizon Wireless. The XOOM features a 10.1-inch display, is capable of 1080p HD video playback, and sports a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. Google has created an easy way for Blogger users to post directly from their handhelds with its new Blogger for Android app. The new app lets users easily create and post blog entries directly from their smartphones. Blogger for Android features the ability to switch between blogger accounts, write/save/publish posts, the ability to post directly from your camera or gallery, sharing capabilities, and more. The Blogger App for Android is available now for free from the Android Market.

Motorola bails on CLIQ XT Android 2.1 update

Motorola has decided that it will not provide an update to the CLIQ XT. Motorola originally said it would update the phone from Android 1.5 to Android 2.1 in Q2 2010. In August, Motorola said the update was delayed until Q3 or Q4 of 2010. "After comprehensive testing of the Android 2.1 upgrade for the CLIQ XT, we have concluded that this device will remain on Android 1.5. We realize many of you were anxiously awaiting this upgrade, but we aim to deliver software upgrades only when it will provide a better customer experience," Motorola said in a statement.

Manson caught with cellphone, officials to crack down on use in jails

Senator Alex Padilla of California is introducing Senate Bill 26 which could make it illegal for inmates in state prisons to have or use mobile phones. Those found using such devices to facilitate a crime could face up to five years in jail, while anyone found with one in their possession could lose credit for time they've already served.

Here's a tour of some of the features of "The Daily," which is the first major tablet-specific publication effort from a traditional media company. News Corp worked hand-in-hand with Apple on this one to introduce a new subscription model.

LG Optimus 3D smartphone headed to Vodafone U.K.

Vodafone U.K. may soon offer LG's recently announced Optimus 3D smartphone. LG has kept most of the device's specs close to the vest, but it will reveal more during the phone's official launch at Mobile World Congress next month. We do know that the Optimus 3D offers a glasses-free 3D LCD display and is also capable of recording 3D video. It also has support for HDMI-out and DLNA connectivity for sharing media with other DLNA devices, such as HDTVs. Stay tuned for pricing and availability.

Nokia rolling out software update for N8, C7, and C6-01 devices

Nokia is pushing out a software update to users of its recent N8, C7, and C6-01 Symbian smartphones. Nokia claims the update will provide users with improved performance and a better user experience. Bug fixes and minor tweaks have also been included in the update. To receive the new software, go through the Software Update setting on the device or use the Ovi Suite.

Samsung releases TV remote app for Galaxy S smartphones, Galaxy Tab

This morning Samsung announced a new Android application that will serve as a remote for Samsung TV owners that use a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone or the Galaxy Tab. The remote uses Wi-Fi to connect to your TV and provides an on-screen QWERTY keyboard, a 4-way directional pad, and access to Samsung Apps on the TV. The app is compatible with some of Samsung's 2010 models including the LED C6500 series and higher, the C650 series and higher, and the Plasma C6500 series and higher. It alos supports select 2011 models. The app is available in the Android market today.

AT&T working on iPhone personal hotspot feature

AT&T is reportedly working on providing its iPhone customers with an AT&T personal hotspot option similar to what Verizon is offering on its iPhone 4. The personal hotspot feature would allow iPhone 4 users to share their 3G connection with other devices.
