| Nokia sees Windows Phone 7 smartphone prices dropping quickly Posted: 19 Feb 2011 10:30 AM PST According to Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, the price of Microsoft Windows Phone 7 smartphones is going to drop rapidly. Reuters reports Elop stated that point was one that Microsoft had to convince Nokia of before the Finnish mobile phone giant was willing to sign on as Microsoft's largest WP7 partner. Elop said that the final agreement between Microsoft and Nokia would likely be signed within a couple of months. Read the full story here. |
| Apple's new subscription service under DOJ and FTC scrutiny Posted: 19 Feb 2011 06:24 AM PST Once again it appears that Apple is coming under the scrutiny of federal anti-trust regulators. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Department Of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission are taking a look at Apple's new iPhone and iPad subscription service for violations of anti-trust laws. The paper noted that no formal investigation has been opened at this time, and that the DOJ and FTC interest was "preliminary." At issue is Apple's rules which largely force publishers to sell only through Apple's own subscription payment service, which provides Apple with a 30% revenue cut. Read the full story here. |

| UberTwitter renamed to UberSocial, awaits approval from Twitter for reactivation Posted: 19 Feb 2011 06:01 AM PST After Twitter suspended data feed access for UberMedia's Twidroyd and UberTwitter accounts for trademark violations, UberMedia has finalized a name change for UberTwitter. Moving forward, the app will be known as UberSocial, and a new UberSocial.com website has already been launched as a result. According to the UberSocial Twitter account, a new version has been submitted and UberMedia is simply waiting for Twitter to sign off on it. Read the full story here. |
| Samsung Epic 4G to get Android 2.2 Froyo on February 21 Posted: 19 Feb 2011 06:00 AM PST Sprint and Samsung are officially bringing the Android 2.2 Froyo update to their Epic 4G smartphone. The upgrade will begin rolling out starting on February 21 and is expected to be on all handsets by the February 25. The Epic 4G is supported by Sprint's WiMAX data network and sports a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, and a large 4-inch Super AMOLED display.
