| LG to show Optimus Pad Honeycomb tablet this week at MWC Posted: 13 Feb 2011 03:07 AM PST Today LG revealed that it is going to formally introduce the new Optimus Pad Android Honeycomb powered tablet this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Pad features an 8.9-inch 1280 x 768 pixel WXGA touchscreen display and a dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. Like the Optimus 3D smartphone that's also being announced, the Pad features a 3D capabable camera, though it lacks a 3D display. | Samsung prepping VoLTE smartphone for MetroPCS Posted: 12 Feb 2011 11:27 AM PST Our friends over at PCMag recently sat down with the technology director for the GSM Association, Dan Warren, and got the scoop that Samsung and MetroPCS are planning to offer a new smartphone that supports MetroPCS' 4G LTE network and will be able to allow Voice over LTE (VoLTE) phone calling. This past week, Verizon announced that it made its first VoLTE on its 4G LTE network using an LG Revolution smartphone. Warren did not clarify exactly when MetroPCS plans to launch the device. | Samsung Galaxy Tab II Android Honeycomb tablet leaked Posted: 12 Feb 2011 11:23 AM PST From a leak on a Korean website, Samsung may be adding a new Android Honeycomb tablet to its line-up. According the information, the new tablet is set to offer a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, an 8MP camera with HD video recording abilities, and dual surround sound speakers. With Mobile World Congress in Barcelona kicking off this upcoming week, we can expect to see lots of new devices rolling out from Samsung. | Nokia creating new Smart Devices and Mobile Phones units Posted: 12 Feb 2011 07:33 AM PST Nokia also announced that it will have a new organizational structure comprised of "Smart Devices" and "Mobile Phones." Smart devices will be led by Jo Harlow while Mary McDowell will lead up the Mobile Phones unit. The new Windows Phone 7 smartphone devices will be merged with the Symbian Smartphones, MeeGo Computers, and Strategic Business Operations groups under the new Smart Devices unit. | HP TouchPad webOS tablet expected to hit store shelves in June for $699 Posted: 12 Feb 2011 07:32 AM PST BGR is reporting that the recently announced TouchPad tablet computer from HP is expected to be available in June for $699. The new HP TouchPad features a very iPad-like 9.7-inch touchscreen display and weighs about 1.5 pounds. It will be available in a number of versions, those with Wi-Fi and built-in 3G connectivity.
