Angry Birds for Symbian^3 now available

Today Rovio launched Angry Birds for Symbian^3 smartphones. The addicting game is available in the Ovi Store and provides 105 levels for free. Angry Birds is also available on iOS and Android smartphones.

AT&T could be prepping for LTE SIM card transition

Possible leaked documents from AT&T could show that the carrier is prepping to switch from its current SIM card to an LTE-capable one. AT&T is planning to begin deploying its 4G LTE network in 2011.

Samsung Galaxy S getting Android Froyo update next month

Earlier today an announcement out of Samsung's UK office stated that the company's flagship Galaxy S Android-powered smartphone should receive an Android 2.2 "Froyo" OS update "early" in November. The update promises improved browser speed, user interface tweaks, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, improved message editing, and extended in-browser search options. Samsung USA has not yet indicated when a similar update will be available for the U.S. versions of the Galaxy S.

5.2 million iPhones activated by AT&T this quarter

Today wireless operator AT&T released its earning figured and reported record growth for the quarter, which included 5.2 million iPhone activations, 62 percent more than the 3.2 million it activated during the second quarter of 2010. The company also stated that nearly a quarter of those activations were new AT&T customers.

Official Twitter app for Windows Phone 7 now available

Today Twitter released its official Twitter application for Windows Phone 7. The application is free and is available in the Windows Market. It's not currently featured, and I found the best way to find it was by searching. Twitter joins a host of other top-notch branded Windows Phone 7 applications, including Netflix, Facebook, Seesmic, The Weather Channel, Slacker Radio, and more.

Nokia pushes MeeGo device to 2011

Today Nokia's CEO, Stephen Elop, discussed the company's third quarter 2010 earnings, as well as its plans for 2011, on a conference call. While Nokia originally said it would have a MeeGo device available by the end of 2010, Elop said MeeGo devices will be a "2011 event," according to Slashgear. That's in line with Intel's recent statement, which said that MeeGo smartphones won't be out until 2011. The head of Nokia's MeeGo team, Ari Jaaksi, resigned from Nokia late last month.

Mobility will be trillion dollar industry by 2014: Report

A new report from Gartner suggests that revenue from voice and data services will surpass a trillion dollars by 2014. It says that there are three major areas of mobility, including devices, applications, and moving forward, the service and social era.

Today Nokia reported its third quarter earnings for 2010. The firm noted increased net sales year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter. While its CEO notes the strength of the company, he did say that Nokia is facing a "remarkably disruptive time in the industry."

The Samsung Omnia 7 and the HTC 7 Mozart, two new Windows Phone 7 devices, are now available from Orange UK. Customers who buy the phones will receive a free Bluetooth headset while supplies last. The 7 Mozart is free with a monthly plan starting at £35 ($55), and the Omnia 7 is free with a £40 ($63) per month contract. Verizon Wireless to kick off 4G LTE network in West Virginia
