| Three UK offering BlackBerry Torch 9800 and pre-paid BlackBerry service Posted: 09 Oct 2010 10:33 AM PDT Three UK has announced that the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 is now available to its post-paid customers for 249 GBP with a 30 GBP monthly contract. The company is also now offering users a pay-as-you-go option for BlackBerry smartphones, starting with the BlackBerry Curve 9300. PAYG BlackBerry service costs 5 GBP per month on top of the cost of Three's All in One plan, which offers 3,000 texts, 100 voice minutes, and 500MB of data for 10 GBP. Read the full story here. |

| Is LG's tablet delay really an Android Gingerbread delay? Posted: 09 Oct 2010 07:51 AM PDT Some news coming out of Korea seems to suggest that LG's Android tablet was never planned to run Android 2.2 Froyo, and that the tablet's delay could be due, instead, to Google delaying the launch of its tablet-friendly Android Gingerbread OS, which was originally planned for Q4 of 2010. | T-Mobile responds to G2 Android smartphone rooting issue Posted: 09 Oct 2010 07:01 AM PDT T-Mobile G2 owners have reported that their new smartphones cannot be rooted, which would allow for deeper customization of the device. T-Mobile responded to the complaints and said: "The HTC software implementation on the G2 stores some components in read-only memory as a security measure to prevent key operating system software from becoming corrupted and rendering the device inoperable. There is a small subset of highly technical users who may want to modify and re-engineer their devices at the code level, known as "rooting," but a side effect of HTC's security measure is that these modifications are temporary and cannot be saved to permanent memory.
