Apple accuses Android 4.1 and Samsung tablet of patent infringement, request adding to lawsuit

Apple claims that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software infringe on its intellectual property, so it has asked a federal judge in California to add the Galaxy Note 10.1 to an existing lawsuit.

HTC and Verizon hosting Nov. 13 press event, likely to showcase a phone with 5-inch screen

HTC and Verizon have just sent out invitations to a November 13 press event where the two companies will showcase their "latest collaboration." That collaboration is rumored to be the HTC DROID DNA, HTC's first Android smartphone with a 5-inch screen. AndroidCentral posted a leaked photo of what was then codenamed as the DLX in October, and subsequent renders of the phone have appeared online that suggest HTC will soon deliver a phone with a large screen to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note II and LG Intuition. HTC released a large phone for the Japanese market, and the DROID DNA may be the U.S. version of the HTC Butterfly J.

Microsoft Messenger being phased out in favor of Skype

Windows Live Messenger, the globally recognized instant messaging client Microsoft debuted in 1999, will be phased out in favor of the Skype app that Microsoft acquired in 2011. Skype today confirmed rumors that it will become Microsoft's new home for instant messaging.

Motorola announces ATRIX HD Developer Edition with unlockable bootloader

Windows Phone 8X coming to AT&T for $199.99 with an exclusive Limelight color

AT&T announced today that it will begin selling the Windows Phone 8X by HTC no later than Thanksgiving, November 22. The Windows Phone 8X 16GB model will cost $199.99 at AT&T, and the 8GB model will cost $99.99 on a two-year agreement. The phone will be available in California Blue or Limelight, which is a shade of yellow that is exclusive to AT&T. The Windows Phone 8X has a 4.3-inch 720p HD display, 8 megapixel camera, 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera, and Beats Audio. It will also support AT&T's 4G LTE network where available.
