Barnes & Noble to sell NOOK devices at Argos, Blackwell's, and Foyles

Barnes & Noble has announced three new retail partners for the U.K. launch of its NOOK products. The American retailer named Argos, Blackwell's, and Foyles as stores where customers will be able to buy the NOOK Simple Touch or NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight beginning in October. The success of Barnes & Noble's Nook products have largely been because of the bookseller's large retail presence in the U.S., so partnerships with existing sellers will allow the company to sell its NOOK line in more than 760 locations in the U.K. The deal also calls for Blackwell's to sell Barnes & Noble's digital products.

Sprint 4G LTE launches in four new cities

Sprint has raised its total number of LTE markets from 15 to 19 by expanding into four cities today. Fulfilling its promise to launch 4G LTE in four new markets before Labor Day, Sprint has launched LTE service in Baltimore, Md.; Gainesville, Ga.; Manhattan/Junction City, Kan.; and Sedalia, Mo. The Now Network also made improvements to its 3G network in these markets. As part of its Network Vision strategy, Sprint optimized its cell towers to enable better call quality, improved indoor coverage, and minimize dropped calls. Though it supports only a handful of markets, Sprint expects to complete much of its network build-out by late 2013.

TomTom Navigation app launching on Android in October

Mapping and navigation service TomTom is coming to Android this fall. TomTom has revealed that it will soon deliver an Android app that offers turn-by-turn navigation, free map updates, arrival times based on route selection, and 2D/3D driving views. The app will also include HD traffic reports and speed camera alerts available as in-app purchases. Costs and regional availability have yet to be shared, but TomTom promises more details closer to its release. TomTom is previewing the app at the IFA conference beginning today, so video demos should be available shortly.
